HP dv6000 Lights up but that's it.

Re : When i press the power button, the lights all light up, the cd rom drive spins for a second and that's it. No fan, No Post, Blank Screen. After a few seconds, it shuts off and then turns back on.

That is generic hardware fault, any faulty device can cause the problem.

The motherboard must be started with a minimal set of devices to troubleshoot.

Start motherboard with only CPU, power adapter connected (faulty battery can cause the problem), heathsink, display and one memory stick. Keep unplugged HD, optical units, keyboard, minipci cards etc.

If problem persists, eventually test the motherboard using a post card(PCI & ISA PC Diagnostic POST CARD MOTHERBOARD TEST CARD) to ensure that new motherboard is not faulty, and then if cpu has not been replaced with the motherboard, replace CPU.

How do I fit extra memory in a compaq hp nc4000with the existing memory in place

There's a second memory slow behind the keyboard.
You'll need a small star shaped screwdriver, can't remember the exact size, and will need to undo 3 screws. one has a pic of a keyboard next to it and is pretty central, and then 2 more nearer the hinge end of the laptop. These last 2 will allow the grey strip with the LED's on to be levered out with a thin screwdriver. The keyboard will then come away, careful not to dislodge the ribbons, and this will expose the 2nd memory slot...

Hi, i have been trying to transfer images from my microSD 8gb memory card that I am using in my Samsung 480i phone. My computer recognises the music files on the card and will play them, but when I try to...

The problem is not with the images. The problem is with the flash drive/ memory card itself. Most of the flash drives/ memory card tend to corrupt the music and the images.

You may want to format the drive and then try using the memory card.

The sd card is stuck in the slot and wont come out

You tried to put a Sony Memory Stick into an SD slot? It will probably need as much force to pull it out as it took to jam it in there!

I'd power off, and start with tweezers... if that doesn't work... i'd break out the needle-nose pliers. You may break the reader while trying this... but a card reader is all of $10-20... and you're kinda stuck anyway. ;o)

Can't upgrade memory past 1gb when max is 2gb

I have the same issue with my laptop. I have not been able to get the laptop to accept 2gb of memory yet, but I did find something that works. If you put your 512mb memory that works in the laptop and then add a 1gb stick in the second slot it works. Or at least it did for me. It's better than nothing. I am still trying to figure out how to get it up to the 2gb max. Will add a solution if I figure it out.

Dell Inspiron 1100 won't read 512 Meg ram.

I had the same problem. I tried several brands of memory unsuccessfully, though they all guaranteed that their products would work with my machine. Finally, my brother (who works in IT) recommended that I go through The Upgrade Place (http://www.theupgradeplace.com/). Great price - less than half of what Dell charges - and the memory worked immediately upon installation.

When I told them that I had a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, they said that my PC required proprietary memory (which is true). I paid with a credit card and received the part two days later.

Good luck,
