Burnt smell is probably the belt slipping. Even though it looks OK, either the belt needs replacement and/or the roller needs cleaning and/or lubrication at the ends. Try cleaning the roller ends first and then light lubrication with WD40. If belt works, you are done. If not, replace belt.

SOURCE: loud noise and smell of rubber over heating

sounds like you have something stuck in the beater bar/roller and the belt is slipping. You're probably going to have to take it out and replace the belt. Also check for wads in the passages.

Your belt is worn and stretched and so it is slipping on the motor drive shaft. That is why it is noisy and smells like burning rubber. You simply need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts here:

SOURCE: Burning smell loud grinding noise when tilted

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. The rattle is the clutch engaging. It can happen for a couple of reasons. The best case for you is if there is something caught in the brush roller that you can simply remove. The next best is that the end caps of the brush are full of junk that you will be able to remove. Its not easy getting the brush out to clean there but it can be done.
If the brush spins in your hand easily when the brush is removed then it is the clutch itself. THe main roller often melts which is caused when the tension on the belt gets to high thus creating too much heat. THis can be resolved only with a new clutch.
Hope this helps, if you have more questions dont hesitate to reply or if you need parts just visit

SOURCE: burning smell and loud noise from hoover steamvac

Perform general maintenance - cleaning filters, etc. If it still exists, take it apart and check the motor... If the motor is sooty on the copper coils inside, then it's had it's day. You could try and buy a replacement motor, but typically, its cheaper just to get a new hoover.

My hoover steam vac is making a horrible noise and smells like its burning

Something may have jammed the brush roller, preventing rotation. This causes the motor shaft to rotate in one spot on the belt, causing the burning rubber smell. Eventually, the belt will break. You need to find what caused the jam and remove it. It would be a good idea to replace the belt as a burned belt is unlikely to last much longer.

Machine wont run what is the problem

take it to your local vac shop. Could be a bad plug, a bad switch, or possibly the motor is bad. Not as likely a motor if you didn't experience a burning smell or loud noises first.

How do I check my hoover floormate deluxe spinscrub's filter and motor? Thanks in advance!!

The filter is at the top of the recovery tank (dirty water tank), should be replaced when dirty or odors occur. as to your motor, there is no way for an end user to remove any cover and check it. If you are experiencing noise, have it checked by an authorized service center.

Hi, how do I check my hoover floormate deluxe spinscrub's filter and motor?

Hi Mike! To check the filter on the Floormate deluxe, remove the dirty water tank and pull up on tank lid to separate from the base. Check foam filter for debris, if filter has debris, rinse it with water. To prevent internal damage make sure you are using only the Hoover Floormate detergent. If the machine is still noisy and smells bad we recommend taking it in to a Hoover authorized service center. Follow the link to find the nearest service center to you. Hope this helps! Samsung vcu366 making loud noise but picks up

what does the really loud noise sound like? Is it a loud, whining sound? if so, the motor may be getting ready to go out. Also check that the belt isn't stuck-though you would smell burning rubber if that were the case.

My new hover floormate is running very loudly and it smells like burning rubber. it seems to be working okay otherwise.

If it's new ( as in less than 30 days ) take it back where you bought it and get it repaired or replaced. If it's over 30 days take it to your nearest Hoover warranty station. It shouldn't smell like burning rubber.

Hoover H3030-006 240 V Motor making a loud sound and burning smell

If you have little to no suction, that sound is happening because you most likely have a clog some were in the vacuum.

smell is probably your motor over working itself do to the clog.

also double check your belts on your brushes that they are moving with the motor. smell and sound could come from the brushes being jammed which would cause the belt to freeze and heat up and could burn the belt and or your motor.

if it is still running though your not in the red yetm so triple check that the machine is cleared off all clogs and jams in the belts and brushes.

The motor is makng a terrible noise - smells like it is burning -how do I check to see if it is a belt?

There are no belts on the SteamVac series. If you are smelling anything, it is nearly positive you have a vacuum motor problem.
