Badhard drive is a possibility or more likely bad software/driver. have you tried booting in safe mode and removing any new hardware. In safe mode you should be able to do a system restore back to a time when it last worked

Wont boot

If it won't boot, the windows files may be corrupt, or there maybe a problem with the hard drive. Remove the hard drive and re-seat it back into place, if it fails to boot! try using the original recovery disc and reload windows, if it fails! do a smart test on the hardware if you have the software, otherwise have the hard drive checked for bad sectors at a computer shop.

Re: R400 stuck at ThinkPad screen wont boot

Computers always boot from the hard drive.
The Bios on the mother board have a routine that tell it to boot from the Hard Drive, or USB in the BIOs setup.
to look at the BIOS setup, when you turn it on keep pressing the <ctrl><alt><del> keys on your key board, this should let you go into BIOs setup. there you can check which device it the first boot, second boot and third boot.
If your hard disk the boot, it is probably crashed, you will have to take it in to be repaired, and you might need a new hard disk.
in which case the repair shop will have to put in a new hard disk, format it as bootable, then reload the operating system, and any software you might have been using, so take into the shop all cd software disks with the computer to the shop so they can reload all your stuff. If there were any files you had on the disk, they may or maynot be recovered.

Good Luck...

Compaq Presario C-500 powers up but can not get past the Compaq LOGO Screen. Tried removing battery, Control/Alt /Delete Suggestions?

This sounds like a hard drive issue. Let the computer run for about five minutes and touch the bottom to see if the laptop is getting hot. If it is extremely hot, then a fan will need to be replaced. Overheating of laptops is the number one cause for hard drive failure. If the fan is replaced, then the hard drive might still be good.

Also, you may have had a virus, which is what is keeping you from booting into the Windows environment. You will need to reformat the computer but will loose all information if you do this yourself. If you are running Windows XP, you will need to purchase a restore disk from the manufacturer. If you are running Windows Vista or 7, boot the computer on and immediately (before the Compaq logo comes on) tap F8. Choose advanced options and choose to factory restore the computer. As mentioned, this will completely erase the hard drive and everything in it.

First try reload your windows software. It sounds like your hard drive is bad if is not booting. I am sorry to tell you that. Another quick tip try go to your bios setup screen to see if it is detecting your hard drive.

Dvdr 3455H/97 hard disk unable to reboot

from krystle i am an electronic tec:
what i have found the big difference between the philips dvdr3455h and the dvdr3575h is the
dvdr3455h boot from software on the hard drive and the dvdr3575h boot from an eprom.
the dvdr3455 has both booth software and movie edit software, if the hard drive become
bad in the 3455 or the software become corrupted it wil hang at the philips logo screen.
the dvdr3575h will boot with a bad hard drive or no hard drive at all you will you wont be able to
capture your video to the hard drive.
if the movie edit software become corrupt or damage when you press record button
it will just lock up the will need a software reload if the software become corrupt.

if you need a reload on your hard drie email me i will tell you what you need to do my email is

Dell Inspiron laptop will turn on but wont take me to log in screen

This indicates a hard drive failure. Try reinstalling the operating system, if you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is bad and needs replaced.

Laptop not booting

Was this a reload of XP, if so what was the cause for the reload? This sounds like the hard drive may have failed. I've had them where the reload seems to take , then it either won't boot or will have issues running properly. This is caused by one or two bad sectors in the drive. The drive has many sectors, depending on the size. First try reinstalling XP, if it has any problems during or after the install, then it's the hard drive. If this wasn't a reload or it's a new hard drive let me know and we'll take a different approach.
