Question about Blackburn Flea Light Set

1 Answer

Rear Light will not stay on

After been recharged for the first time, Flea 2.0 will not stay on after the power switch is released. The light is fully charged but works only as long as the power button is pressed. Tried to switch off and on, but still the same. Tried to change from "demo" by holding the power for 30 sec. but no change.

Sounds like a bad contact in the switch. This seems to be a common problem.

My break light swithes on sometimes without me even pressing the breaks. The break light also sometimes stays on even when I have taken my feet off the break. I have tried changed the break light switch...

Did you adjust the brake light switch correctly? To adjust the brake light switch, first press the brake pedal down a few inches, then pull the switch plunger rod out of the switch toward the brake pedal arm, as far as you can without using excessive force. Next, return the brake pedal to the pedal stop position against the pedal stop and pull the brake pedal toward the rear to push the brake light switch actuating plunger rod into the switch housing limited by the travel of the brake pedal arm rear travel stop position. This procedure automatically adjusts the brake light switch correctly.
If the brake lights still don't turn off with the brake pedal released, check the brake pedal arm for sticking or binding that is preventing the brake pedal arm from returning fully to the pedal stop when the brake is released.

Subaru legacy power lose when switched off. new battery charge rate 14 volt+

The charge rate of 14 volt shows that your alternator is responding as it should and is doing its best to recharge the battery. Even with a fully charged battery if you switch on the power hungry electrical items (main headlights, rear window demist heater etc) you should see the alternator respond by pushing out 14+ volts. A low battery will show about 12.2 volts when disconnected. OK you need to find what is draining your battery when the car is switched off. With the car off disconnect the negative terminal and measure the current flowing between the disconnected cable and the negative terminal, it should very very low, just enough to keep the clock running. If you do have residual current flow, remove and return each fuse one at a time and note each time the current reading. Quite quickly you will be able to isolate the circuit that is causing the drain. Often it is a lighting circuit for an interior light that you cannot see....such as a glove box light not going off when the lid closes or the trunk light staying on. These work by a contact switch being opened by coming into contact with a bracket when shut. If for some reason the bracket gets bent or is dislodged then the light stays on.

How do I insert the battery into the Blackburn flea?

It's a rechargable light, with a built in battery and no supposed user replacable battery. You need the USB dock to charge it either through your computer or using the optional Blackburn solar panel.

Craftsman power drill - batteries wont recharge. When I insert dead batteries into the charger The green light ''Fully charged'' comes on and stays on. The batteries do not charge as when they are inserted...

the battery's are most likely dead, (like the real dead) after many uses of rechargeable battery's they slow stop holding charge at all, make sure when you get a new rechargeable battery you fully charge it once and fully discharge it once this will increase batterys life time

I cannot get Blackburn flea to take a charge. It only the 2nd time I am recharging the rear flea. Its a brand new battery.

It might be stuck in 'display mode' (described on the package). Try holding down the button for twenty seconds until you see the signal. Then try turning it on normally again.

They are unrelated. Just make sure your brake release is fully relesed. The switch turns the light on if the release isn't against it fully.

My Flea Taillight won't charge, I'm using a brand new "AA" battery, (hooked up - red to + and black wire to - ) I've reset the "light from demo mode (holding down the button for 20"...

Try cleaning the contacts with a cotton swab and som isopropyl alcohol.
Let those dry.
Use a paper clip, or other small pointy object to clear the area around the contact points on the light so the recharger can fully "snap" into place.
Attach a battery you know has a good charge.
Turn on the light.
Did the light turn on?
If so, great, turn it off, and if it is blinking, let it recharge.
If it didn't turn on, isn't blinking and won't hold a charge after this process, return it to Blackburn and enjoy the benefits of your lifetime warranty.

Brake lights stay on all the time

hi from uk you say b/light switch appeares to set properly ?? have removed the elec plug from switch and see if b/light go off? if they go off? then the switch is either not adjusted correctly so when pedal is released the plunger of switch is not being pushed back fully into switch and puttin lights off ? OR running into ditch?? did you press brakes in terror hard to try to avoid? the pedal may be bent slightly? giving same symptom as described above re plunger ? if remove switch and work manually with wire attached and lights stay on with plunger pressed fully in? then switch is fault? please try the above trial/s and come back with update or if you req further help ? best wishes hope this helps /
