Re: Belt Replacement?

Ahh! same thing happened to me during a move. quite frustrating, but a simple fix: remove the plate and look at the underside. here you'll see a ring around it, place the belt around that ring. there are 5 holes total, one small in the center, two larger ones to the side, and two rectangular ones on the edge. as you're putting the plate back onto the player, grab the belt through one of the rectangular holes and place that part of the belt around the cylindrical moving post to the upper left the same time as you put the plate back in place. it sounds confusing, but it's simple, i swear. let me know if i can clarify anything for you.

Re: Belt Replacement?

That's too easy. I was trying for a long time to somehow thread the belt drive through the inward turns but you thread it on the inside of the metal removable turntable itself! Thanks for the post and website.

Some belt drive turntables have a C clip on the spindle that, if removed, allows the platter to be lifted off to expose the inner drive mechanism. The replacement belt is looped over the motor pulley and the hub on the platter then the platter is reinstalled and held in place with the C clip. This description is over simplified because in actual practice it takes some delicate maneuvering to get everything back together correctly.

2. Put your thumb and forefinger through the two round holes either side of thecentre spindle and lift the platter off. You may need to give the centrespindle a light tap (whilst applying upward pressure) with a screwdriver handleor some similar tool that will not leave any marks or damage.
3. Remove the old belt and wipe the platter and motor pulleys with an alcoholswab to remove any old belt residue.
4. Place the new belt around the platter pulley making sure it is sitting flatwithout any twists.
5. Flip platter over the right way up. Acorrect fitting belt will stay put and an over belt will fall off.

The drive belt came off. How to I get it back on?

This is from the manual:

These are the directions for assembling when new, so your belt won't have the ribbon tape. Just install the belt around the platter and put it back over the drive shaft with your finger. If the belt comes off again, it's probably stretched and needs to be replaced. Replacement belts are available from several online sources in the $10-$20 range.

The rubberband came off the turntable, and i was wondering what the pattern is to put it back on. thank you

Lift felt on platter and and lift the platter section off the unit by putting your thumb and forefinger through the two large holes and pull upwards. There should not be any special routing for the belt and should go directly onto the spindle motor to your platter. Place the belt around the inside rim of the platter while it is still off the unit. Now replace the platter and move the platter around until you see the spindle motor through one of the holes. Use some tweezers to manouvre the belt onto the spindle motor. On some units you will have to lay the belt out inside the unit, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platter. Hope this helps

The belt fell of the gears on my turntable.

Hi dont know the model but normally like so:
Take the platter of the turntable, it should just lift of, but there could be a circlip in the middle that needs to come off first. Just lift the mat first.

Place the belt back onto the platter first, should see where it goes, then put the platter back on. There are holes in the paltter which you can then grab the belt and pull it over the motor spindle.

Hope that helps

KM837 manual to fix belt on turntable

IF the belt fell off, it is likely that the belt is stretched and needs to be replaced. Use a couple of pencils to open up the belt and beasure the length. The belt should go around the two pencil erasures forming an oval. Use that measurement to determine the belt size and purchase a replacement belt. The belt will go around the platter and around the motor hub.

Teac turntable belt came off.. help!

Through the 2 holes on the platter, lift the platter up. Take the belt, flip the platter over, and stretch it around the center ring. Flip the platter back over and turn to so one of the holes is over the spinning motor. With your finger or with a blackstick, stretch it back onto the motor head.

Also check the belt for wear....that should do it.

Keep me posted.

Help~~ the belt fall off

Most turntables have the belt wrapped around the bottom of the turntable platter, and then around the motor. You'll have to remove the rubber mat, to expose some holes on the platter, where you can squeeze your fingers in to pinch/wrap the belt around the motor shaft - generally on the lower left side. You can't miss it. Also, for future reference, here is the operating manual for your unit, and it has instructions on replacement the belt - it is on page 6:
