GE Spacesave microwave won't work. Display says REM. What does that mean?

"REM" is "reminder". That's covered in your owner's manual.

Here's a sample:

"The Reminder feature can
be used like an alarm clock
and can be used at any
time, even when the oven
is operating. The
Reminder time can be set
up to 24 hours later.
1 Press REMINDER.
2 Enter the time you want
the oven to remind you.
(Be sure the microwave
clock shows the correct
time of day.)
3 Select AM or PM.
4 Press REMINDER. When
Reminder signal occurs,
press REMINDER to turn
it off. The Reminder
time may be displayed by
pressing REMINDER.
NOTE: The REM indicator
will remain lit to show that
the Reminder is set. To
clear the Reminder before
it occurs, press
REMINDER, then 0. The
REM indicator will no
longer be lit."

Error code of F-3.

F3H —Humidity Sensor Failure: Refer to the Tech Sheet and test the sensor.
The microwave oven may be provided with a self diagnostic routine that can be operated through the touch pad keyboard. To enter the self-diagnostic routine:
1.While pressing the CANCEL keypad:
a) Open the oven door.
b) Unplug the microwave oven for 2-seconds and plug it back in.
c) Release the CANCEL keypad and close the oven door. You will see the following display.
CHART
NOTE: The humidity sensor test results will appear on the display after 8-seconds.If the tests are successful, "OK " will be displayed. If one or more of the tests fail, "ERR " will be displayed.. 2.When a keypad is pressed, a number according to the test chart will be displayed. When no keypad is pressed, a blank "—" is displayed.
If you want to try to fix it your self, Always remember Electricity is dangerous and should be treated with respect.
Microwaves are very dangerous, they can still shock you even unplugged!!
Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it. With the microwave unplugged.
If my attachment made it, it shows a common way to do this....
Good Luck!

Digital display lighting

The solution depends first on the type of display your microwave has. Please refer to the picture. The left side shows a partially defective LCD type display. If you have this type of display, we regularly repair them for $32.50 nationwide. The right side is a VFD type display which is weak due to age. On some brands and models, we are able to get a replacement display tube and repair it to a like-new brightness. Feel free to e-mail me at _ if you have other questions.
