SOURCE: Staples SPL-1506X Shredder Issue

I had the same problem. I have a solution but I do not recommend this unless you have technical experience with repairing electrical appliances. I took the back cover of the main shredder unit to expose the wiring (there are 7 screws in total). The bin full sensor has a blue, green, and red connected to it. I clipped the blue wire to defeat the Bin Full error. You can look through the plastic window to check that the bin is full.

SOURCE: staples shredder spl 727mm - quit working all of sudden - jammed?

Two are accessed through the rubber foot pads. Six are accessedfrom the basket compartment. You will need a VERY LONG AND SKINNY Phillipsscrewdriver with a foot-long blade and a very narrow diameter to fit down theaccess holes. I cut my case in two to get at the six screws through the basketcompartment (very messy). It would probably be easier to drill holes throughthe bottom of the case for screw access. You could then use tape to cover the holes.

Our shredder quit running while in use. Staples said itwould probably need a new circuit board. Once I got inside I found a 5 amp fusesoldered to the circuit board. Yes, it was blown. I jumped it and the machineworked. I unsoldered the fuse and soldered in two wires that I ran through ahole I drilled in the top of the machine. I took a 5 amp automotive fuse(bayonet style) and drilled a small hole through each bayonet. I then threadedthe two wires through the two holes on the fuse and wrapped them around, instead of soldering, for easy future replacement. Then I wrapped the fuse withelectric tape for safety and taped the fuse flat to the top of the machine.Voila! A flawed Chinese product is made usable! Dan Phelps delps@charter.net

SOURCE: No power to Staples mailmate

There is a 10mm 5amp @ 250v fuse on the main board that is probally blown . I unsoldered mine and soldered a pigtail fuse holder with a convient sized 5 amp fuse inside in its place . The shredder is not too bad to take apart , the head comes apart from the body of the shredder .Turn it upside down and you will see 6 or 7 phillips screws .Once these are removed the head assembly opens up and you will see the circuit board which is held in place by 2 phillips screws. A quick ohm meter test will reveal the fuse condition. It was an easy fix just MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE UNIT UNPOWERED while you work on it or its unassembled.

SOURCE: how to disassemble the mailmate spl-727MM. I

1. Remove the two rubber pads (only two out of four pads with Phillips screw, you should be able to see which two).
2. Use a long Phillips screw driver to remove the two screws
3. You may still not able to remove the the housing because there are double side tapes sticking the front part of the housing to the shredder's base, use a ruler (steel ruler) to detach the tapes
4. You should be able to pull out the housing (the machine should be up-side-down) and you should be able to do what you wanted to fix.

Enjoy.

Staples mailmate SPL 727MM will not power up

Shredder refused to power on. No light... nothing.
1st step: (MAKE SURE THE THING IS UNPLUGGED FROM 120 V FOR FOLLOWING STEPS)
So, i dismantled it according to previous postings and inspected visually everything. Nothing had heated, all solderings were OK on the boards. Did few checks on the interlock drawer switch with an ohmeter: tested OK. I removed the 2 screws holding the little board where the power on switch is mounted. Ohmeter said no action across switch prongs when i push the button. I drowned the button with tape head cleaner and activated the button a hundred times. After it dried, i repeated the operation.
It cured the problem. I Dont think these kind of switches can be found... cheap stuff.
Had some problem finding a 10 inches phillips screwdriver to open the case... Electronic store had one...brand is Xcelite.
....have fun challenging those China made gizmos !

Staples Mailmate Shredder do not get powered on.

Hi there,

First of all you try plunging them in to other power board, check the cable and the plug (check if the cable or plug not getting shorted), make sure the circuit breaker for the shredder outlet is on.
tell me is there any humming noise? or any sign of power getting in to it?

Please post back further comments for more information...

Thanks
