Question about Samson Technology Zoom R16 Recorder / Interface / Controller
I'm no stranger to electronics repair, but this one has me puzzled. One night at band practice, I plugged my R16 in and when I switched the power on... nothing happened. I've checked the power supply (wall wart) and it's fine. I've tried the USB interface and batteries to power the R16, and neither of those worked. Faulty switch? Cracked solder joint? That was my next thought too. I opened the R16 up and looked for any obvious signs of damage. There were none. I used my voltmeter to check the switch and power is effected just fine by the switch. Physically, the R16 looks and appears to be mechanically sound. There's not a whole lot inside the R16 on the motherboard. At $400 to replace my R16, that's a bit much. I bought mine used about 2 years ago and have not had any problems until this problem 2 weeks ago. So, I'd like to get mine repaired. Any suggestions on who can service my R16? Will the repair cost outweigh the cost of just buying a new one?
