SOURCE: Laptop won't start

If you can afford it a new laptop will be your best bet. They have really come down in price. I have a Compaq laptop that had the same problem. If I took the battery out and keep it unplugged for a few days it would boot up but only for about an hour then shut down and not reboot until I did the same thing. This has gone on for about a year. I even disassembled it , put in a new CMOS battery and the same. I was just about to give up on it and one day it just started working and has been for about a month now. I'm sure it is going to go back out but it will give me a chance to do some more testing on it. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Gateway laptop model MT6723, when I go to press

Is the computer coming on or is it just flashing and then nothing? From what you have said I am guessing you are saying it is not powering on?? You either have a bad power supply, DC jack, or your battery is bad. If the computer turns on and runs fine with just the power supply and not the systems battery then you probably have a bad battery. If your computer is not turning on try wiggling the adapter up close to the DC jack when you push the power button. If it turns on or tries to turn on then you need to replace your DC jack. If you have a voltage meter you can check your power supply to make sure it is getting proper voltage.

SOURCE: hp compaq 6715b...dos not turn

Hello,

Test the adapter with another laptop in other to confirm if truly the adapter is still good. If the adapter works, then it means your laptop is having a power problem.

This has nothing to do with the battery because whether or not the battery is good or bad, that doesn't say the laptop shouldn't work with the adapter.

So the problem as to be either from the laptop's power board or from the AC adapter.

Tale care.

Please 1. unplug the ac adapter, detach the main battery, press the power button for 15 seconds, plug in the ac adapter, and restart your laptop. If the problem persist: 2.unplug the ac adapter, detach the main battery, press the power button for 15 seconds, take out the hard drive, plug in the ac adapter, and restart your laptop. " power on " indicater

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Acer one notebook no display and automatic shutdown

= if your laptop computer will not start =
laptops have power supplys that can lock up
the power adapters conectors break all the time
and the batterys are designed to be "con$umable$"
so

- - -- - -- - -power reset - - -- - -- - -- - -
remove the power adapter's wall plug &
leave the power adapter plugged into the computer
but pull the laptop battery out of the laptop.
press the power button just like you are trying to start it
but press it longer, this will drain & reset
the internal supply, now relese the button.

-- - -- - -power adapter only test - - -- - -- - -
reconnect the power adapter's wall plug
press the power button to start it with just the power adapter ,
If the power adapter starts the laptop on its own go down to
"If the computer can be started"

If the power adapter does not start the laptop on its own
leave the power adapter plugged into the computer but
remove the power adapter's wall plug & press the power button
just like you are trying to start it again,
then relese the button

- - -- - - battery only test - - -- - -- - -
unplug the power adapter & put the battery back in
press the power button to start it with just the battery

if the battery starts it on its own go down to
"If the computer can be started"

if the battery ALMOST starts it on its own
DO NOT BUY A NEW ONE! it may only be discharged
locate another laptop just like yours and charge it,
and yes this is crazy and yes i am sorry!.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- if your laptop computer cannot start at all -
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

this can be caused by a bad;
connector ($5-$60), power adapter($5-$60),
battery ($70), internal supply ($40-$90),
or main/mother board ($100-$300)

If the internal power supply is bad or if the
power conector fails at random (intermitant)
most of the cost is determined by how dificult
finding parts and dismantling the laptop is
and if it's external or internal

Mine is lenovo g430.i use windows 7.the system doesnt switch on.the indicaters and the fan comes on and stays.but nothindg is displayed on screen.

Try to perform power drain first as initial troubleshooting.

Procedures:
Take out the battery
Unplugged the power adapter
Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
Put the battery back in
Plugged in the power adapter
Turn on the computer

If same issue will happened call our technical support department to have your laptop checked and scheduled for repair. This issue would be an LCD problem.

By the way. Is your unit still under warranty?

Power button goes on and off, and no response

Power drain the computer by removing the battery and power adapter and press the power button for 1 minute. then insert back in the battery also the adapter to your computer and start the computer.

If the solution won't work
, try using flash light on the monitor,if you can see anything on your screen, possible backlight is the problem, however to isolate also the issue you may use an external monitor to check if you can have a video using other monitor and if not? you may contact the tech support of your system for possible mechanical failure.

hope it helps.

please post positive comments and rate.

Windows failed to start.

Try a hardware reset: remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power-on button for at least 20 seconds (it will discharge the internal capacitors), then put the battery and plug in the AC adapter. Try to press the power-on button again.

Dear sir, I have a asus L8400 laptop computer. When I switch on it nothing happen but charging indicator lights. When AC adaptor connected ,brightness of that indicater increases. Some Ic circuits get warm...

turn of the computer and remove the battery and ac adapter. Press the power button for more than 20 seconds and then plug the ac adapter back. if the issue persists, this could be a hardware issue. if your computer is still within warranty, contact your OEM. go to this link to get their tech support number: http://support.asus.com/contact/contact.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

My Hp Compaq 6820s don't start when I press power button.

This simply means that the battery is dead. Pull the battery out and try to start it again (with the power adapter plugged in obviously). If it starts up, you need a new battery, if it does not start up you may have a bad power adapter or broken power jack.

Do not start when start button is pressed. Seems power adapter K30266 is defective. Output should be 24V, but I get only 7.2V.

power adapter is definitely defective if it only has 7.2 volts on it output. check if you have plugged it in the correct voltage!
