You can do this without removing unit from wall. First unplug unit. Next remove the two screws on the top of the unit closest to the front. These screws simply keep the up facing vent in place. Next slide the vent to the left (plastic latches on bottom hold in place) to allow vent to be removed. You should now see a single screw above the control panel. Remove it then open the microwave door. Gently slide the control panel up which will disengage the plastic latches on the panel sides. Suggest if you are going to remove the controller and replace take a picture before removing it so you know exactly how to reconnect all the wires.

SAMSUNG MICROWAVE SHOWS SE AND WILL NOT WORK.WHY?

SE is an error code for a shorted keypad, although the keypad might not really be shorted.

Unplug the oven for a few minutes to see if it clears the error code. If not, then leave it unplugged over night. If the problem persists, then you probably do have a shorted membrane switch on the keypad.

Why does my Samsung microwave smh8165ste have error code --SE--?

SE indicates a shorted membrane switch on the keypad. Unplug the oven for a few minutes to see if it clears. If not, leave it unplugged overnight. If the problem persists, then you probably do have a switch that's bad.

How fix se error

"SE" error means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

On some models, you can peel off and replace the old keypad.

On others, it's best to replace the control panel frame, which contains a new keypad already.

You didn't mention your full model, but if it;s the same as the category in which you posted (SMH9187ST) here is a specific solution:

The simplest way to fix this is a simple DIY solution, to replace the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad already attached.

It is part number DE94-02001C "assy control panel" and you can order it from the Pros here for about $30 plus shipping.

They may not have it in stock, but if you order it, they can have it in a few days.

You can download the service manual from our site here.

At our Web site , we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
