Question about Toshiba Satellite A305-S6837 (4400 mAh)
"Windows Error Recovery Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup. choose Start windows Normally. " I have tried both choices several times. the Launch Startup repair ran for about 10-hours then re-started and came back to the same screen. The 'Start Windows Normally' choice also restarts and comes back to the same screen. I have also tried a warm shut down when at the choice screen and taken the battery out then replaced and reconnected to the power cord, with the same results. Any suggestions how I can get out of this LOOP and get this lap top to re-start normally again?

Welcome to Fixya. First you need to decide what Operating System you want to install and second can you please try to install the Windows Vista using the DVD and on the setup screen if your hard disk is detected you can format or delete the partition to remove all the windows components. However you need to keep in mind that if you will delete the partitions all files will be deleted as well. If still have the message that no hard disk drive detected please go to Bios Screen and check if the hard disk is detected.
If the hard disk is detected:
just select the partition you want to install windows then wait until the setup finish the installation.
If the hard disk is not detected in Bios:
Try to reconnect the cable from your hard disk and check if the bios will detect it. If not then the hard drive is bad.
Thanks for using Fixya.
