Question about HP DeskJet 882c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Where does power cord go into printer?

Dog got under table where wires/cords were and now I can't tell where to plug the power cord back in. There is a space in the back that doesn't have a cord but the power cord has 2 holes that don't match up to the space available (without a cord in the back); middle hole. I'm thinking maybe there was so sort of adapter piece that either got eaten by dog or vacuumed up.

The cord is intact and not chewed but the end not plugged into the powerstrip, the end that goes into the printer somewhere has two holes (that are supposed to be there) and the only place I can see that it must plug into, doesn't seem to match up. I guess what I need is an illustration of where the cords go and what the cords look like. I'm guessing, maybe there was possibly another piece that fell off or got vacuumed up or eaten by the dog caue what I've got on the end of the cord doesn't seem to match up to the available place to put a cord. Then again, I may not even be looking in the right place to reattach it. Is it possibly hidde somewhere?

SOURCE: my dog chewed the cord in half! ?? dog is ok

Yea yea yea ... blame it on the poor dog ...

Is this printer a 110 VAC into the device or is it powered by a transformer?

If by a standard cord, use any computer cord. If by a transformer, there is that possibililty you can repair the broken wire by removing the damaged portion and reconnecting the two ends. Pay attention to the marks on the wire (white mark or ridge or color of the conductor). Make sure the two wires are insulated from each other.

If you are not able to effect this repair yourself, or by a neighbor with a such skills, get yourself to the computer repair shop around the corner from where you live and plea your case. Expect to pay $15.00 for this repair job. If you require a new power supply, please check www.hp.com/support for your model, e-bay or Craigs List.

There are a few emergency ideas for you. If it is really really really critical and you can't find or make the repair ... you can always get a new, economy printer to use until you can get this one going again.

I have a 12 inch chraftsman table saw with 2 wires coming from motor. The wiring diagram inside the cap shows it to be wired for 240 how do I wire that thru a switch and to a three wire recepticle

Not quite sure what your question is - Are you trying to plug a 240 into a 110/120 outlet? Or are you trying to plug this into a 240 3 prong outlet?

Traditionally, table saws don't come with a power cord - you must supply one. Usually on the motor there is a metal plate that describes volts/amps/phase/hp etc. Get the Volts/Amps from this plate, then measure the approximate distance between your table saw and the 240 outlet. The gauge of the power cord depends upon the Volt/Amps and the length of the cord. There are many volts/amps vs length for wire gauge conversions on the net. I always get a bigger wire (smaller gauge) than what is recommended. Expect to pay $100 or more for the cord (don't be cheap here). If you have an under rated cord, you can start a fire, burn up your motor, melt plugs into outlets and have to replace the outlet (don't ask how I know).

I'm a little suspicious of the "white and black" wire from 240 - it's usually "white and red" with a "black" ground. 240 is made from two 120's - opposite sine wave. So black is usually the common ground, while the white and red are the two 120's. Volts between white-red=240, white-black=120, red-black=120. If you're absolutely sure that white-black=240, then you can just connect a ground wire to the motor case. Many home table saws can be wired for 240 or 120 - you need to make sure that you're hooking 240v to the correct wires. If you're uncertain at all, then don't do it.

I have wired 120 to a 240 motor by accident and the motor ran - it had no power and didn't spin at full RPM. You can damage a motor this way, so I wouldn't recommend it. I have never put 240 to a 120 motor - so I don't know what happens (guessing you could burn up the motor coils).

With all that being said, if you have 240 outlet with 3 wire receptacle, then just use a multi-meter to determine the 2 "hot" and the 1 ground. Volts from hot1-hot2=240, hot1-ground=120, hot2-ground=120. If you don't have a multi-meter, buy one (approx $12). Once you have it wired up, then try the motor by flipping the switch on then off again. If the motor didn't spin, then you did something wrong. If it hummed but didn't spin, you have some connections wrong inside of the motor. If it spins the wrong way, then your wiring inside of the motor is wrong (doesn't help to flip the wires on the outlet). If you blew a circuit breaker, then the wiring to the motor is wrong.

Simply get a cord of the same amperage and voltage, strip both cords, splice them, tape them well and you should be good. Keep fido away from the unit, lest he become a corn dog!

OfficeJet 7410 wont boot up.

I would try resetting the power supply.
You can do this by unplugging the power adapter cable from the wall outlet.
Unplug the other end from the printer.
Unplug the power cable portion from the rectangular power adapter.
You should be left with a power cord, a power adapter, and a printer; All three are not plugged into anything. Leave it this way for 30 secs, then retry the turn-on process after plugging the cords back into where they belong. Also, try plugging straight into a wall outlet, and not into a surge protector.

If this is not working still, double check the outlet in question by testing it with an appliance like a hair dryer or lamp.

Good luck!

We have the following message on screen. Insert black or photo print cartridge inright stall. We have cleaned contacts, renewed both cartridges, and still have this message. Can you advise as to the...

first make sure that your printer is directly connected to the wall socket.
Now unplug the power cord from thew back of the printer & press and hold the # and 3 keys together and plug in the power cord back into the printer (partial reset). check if it resolves the problem, if not then unplug the power cord from thew back of the printer & press and hold the # and 6 keys together and plug in the power cord back into the printer (semifull reset). check if it resolves the problem, if not then. take out all the cartridges from the printer & unplug the power cord & plug it back in without inserting the cartridges. once the printer powers on it will give you an error "ink cartridges missing" or it will ask you to insert the ink cartridges, then insert the cartridges in the printer 1 by 1 starting from the black (hard reset). This should resolve the problem. please let me know the same

I need a power cord for an emerson tv

Hope the dog is well. Best to go to hardware store and buy a plug to replace yourself. Is it two wires, or three? Is it round or flat cable? Also if this is a continuos problem you might want to get a length of metal clad cable to put over the cord before you put the new plug on.
