nothing happening still, i checked the resolution on monitor 2, and set it to the lowest res i could.

the led on the external is yellow, so i dont think it's getting any signal, yet my computer still reads one.

i also checked for driver updates, and it said it was up to date.
    anything else?

*and wow thanks rockitman, that was a speedy reply.

Try plugging in an external monitor and see how the display shows on it. If the display is ok on the external then your LCD Screen is going bad. If it shows the same colors on the external monitor then your video graphics card has issues.

My hp pavillion dv6000 works but , no light up screen . any suggestions?

If there is an image on the screen, but it is incredibly dark and washed out, then your laptop's back light is out. This is an expensive repair that often exceeds $300. Solutions can be having it repaired, getting it replaced, or using an external monitor with the laptop.

Booting problem with my hp pavillion dv6000

it seems there is a problem with detection of hard disk drive.

as soon as you turn on the laptop press F1 key to enter the BIOS and check there to see if the hard drive is detected or not. If F1 doesnt take you into BIOS try F2.

We have a hp m8000 pavillion with a 17 " monitor purshased 2007. we bought a hannspree 22" lcd widescreen a couple of days ago. when we plug it in its say no signal. however when we plug it into our lap...

that happened to me. I felt stupid when I discovered what i did wrong. I attached the monitor cable to the connector at the top of the back of the computer(where it is supposed to attach, right?) - but, there was another connector for the monitor at the bottom of the computer which had been a special "card" add on. the monitor jack at the top did come with a plastic covering which meant not to use it. i thought the covering was just a protector, i didn't know. live and learn i guess.

Can't get picture back on lap top after connecting to ext monitor

Hello there. You sound very frustrated. try this, go into your BIOS settings and cycle the settings for your vga adapter, or even reseting the options to basic performance. also, you could hook up the external monitor and disable it while it's hooked up. that should fix any problems with that(if you still have an extra.)

if reboot vista is not work for you. then you must trying display setting in your vista. usually each operating system have their own display setting application. for example i using windows xp with intel graphics on board. the graphics have the software called as intel graphics media accelerator driver. in my pc i can found a little blue box icon in the right bottom. i just right click then choose the output to monitor + notebook. what type of your vga?, you can find that information in device manager.
