Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

View Screen I have seen questions about the view screen, but have not found my exact problem. My view screen will work fine to make a movie, view pictures, or adjust settings. However, it will not show anything when I'm taking pictures. I have to look through the little view hole instead of seeing it on the screen. The batteries are not low, so that shouldn't be the problem. What can be done to fix this?

Re: View Screen

Some cameras dont - did yours ever? Personally I prefer the viewfinder to peering at a screen especially in the bright light. But check out your manual for this - usually there is a more comprehensive manual as a PDF file on the CD>

When shooting my screen is black and pics. are black

try to take video on Movie mode, if you won't get picture on LCD the CCD is dead. That means you need to replace the whole zoom lens. it costs a lot, not worth to repair.

Black screen in shoot mode

The most common cause of this is a failed image sensor. Usually the playback mode will let you view pictures taken before the issue happened just fine and you will also be able to view the menu system just fine. When viewing the screen in an image taking mode, however, there is typically discolorations, horizontal or vertical lines, image bluring or distortions, or simply a black screen.

This situation, if caused by the image sensor, has to serviced and cannot be fixed by the user. If you are within your one year warranty and no user damage has been done to the camera, the camera will be fixed at no charge. If beyond the 12 month period however the customer may opt to have the unit repaired at a cost or take advantage of the Canon Loyalty Program and upgrade to refurbished S3 IS at an alternate discounted price.

Hope this helps.

My cannon ixus 70 shows nothing on the screen in picture taking mode but when i take a piture then put it into view mode it can be seen?

Mine too! Screen works fine in video mode as well. Love my camera and dont want to replace it (have been using the traditional viewfinder), but repair too expensive.

All ideas welcome.

Cannot view the movies I made on my camera and downloaded to my Vista PC

I assume you can view them in you camera, right? If not, the following solution will not help.

The .MOV Apple QuickTime format Panasonic uses for its camera movie clips cause problem on with viewing, as seen from several other problem posts here and the net.

Some computer use a Win 32Bit operating system, other better ones use a Win 64. It is hard to believe QuickTime would let you load a 64bit version into a 32bit OS, or vice versa. But who knows. Rather double clicking on te file name itself, open QuickTime, then go to File Open and Browse to the file and select it that was. If this doesn't work, go to QuickTime website and try their User Forums first to ask a question or find a thread talking about movie files not playing. Else, CONTACT website and ask question. Post any solution here for readers.

Samsung V700 Movie Problem

I think you might need to change your video viewing software. Try quiktime or Realplayer. If this does not work, look on the net for compatible software so that you can view your movies. Hope this helps.
