Much easier to remove the door form the unit and la ydown flat on table, unless the door has"lockable hinges" it should pull sttraight up and off, check your manual for "how to remove door assy", the glass will simply unscrew off from that point

Press the self clean button, move the latch to the right (this locks the door) then push start, it will take 4 hours and 20 min, let the glass cool before you clean it after self cleaning

Your model has an igniter.

Hotpoint gas oven won't keep its temperature. I

The temperature sensor in the oven needs replacing. It is located in the back wall of the oven. About 3 inches long, metal and about the size of a thin pencil.

Replacing outer glass of oven door

This is glass because glass does not burn, does not melt at oven temperatures, and is a pretty good insulator. Also allows the cook to watch the cake rise.

I would not replace with anything but factor glass. Too dangerous, even regular glass is not properly treated to be safe in this environment.

The cash for clunkers gets extended to appliances soon, perhaps this makes a new one more affordable?
