Question about Toshiba Satellite L850D-BT2N22 Customizable : Laptop Notebook

Broken shift key on Satellite L850D

I had just gotten this Notebook less than a week ago and everything was working perfectly. Today I noticed a physical difficulty my shift has been having where I can tell the rubber underneath has broken and will not pop the key back up. I wonder if this is common and I had replaced computer keys before on a different Notebook. To note, this Notebook is also refurbished by either Toshiba and/or Future Shop. My question is how I can remove the key without damaging anything

SOURCE: STICKEY KEYS!

heres the quick version:

hold down both shift keys, it should either disable it or pop up a message to disable it, hit escape, not cancel...

control panel, accessibility options, keyboard, click settings near filterkeys, uncheck use shortcut, click ok.. check the boxes for use filter toggle and stickey keys, hit applyuncheck them all and hit apply again... if this doesnt fix it, read on..

create a blank text file on your desktop named disable.reg or something similar, and paste the portion between the --------'s into it:

----------
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\Blind Access]
"On"="0"

SOURCE: @ key not working in toshiba laptop

has it ever worked?
it could be that your are pressing the wrong combination buttons or that if its a laptop with a spanish keyboard, the keyboard settings is kind of wrong..

to check if its the keyboard settings, go to control panel and look for something that has to do with lenguaje.. there you can set up the lenguaje you want..

hope that helped..

SOURCE: toshiba satellite fn key display problem

Just download this :) It will fix your problem. If it doesn't work, just search for Toshiba Value Added Package Vista/XP (that depends on what Operative System you've got) and download for your Operative System.

Have a Toshiba Satellite and it has been having problems over the last week It would sometimes take me up to 10 tries to get it to turn on. After it did turn on it would be fine. But when I was on...

Seems like a clear case of overheating. Have you owned it a long time? May need to clean out the dust in it. The Fan may of also stoppped working. Hopefully you can get it checked out before permanent damage is done.
