Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

D 600 intermittently won't power on

My D 600 has over the past couple of months starting having a problem turning on when the power button is pushed. When I push the power button nothing happens and no lights come on. The power button doesn't feel crisp when pushed like it used to. I took the power button cover off but didn't see any porblems. I bought another cover and installed it, but it didn't make any difference. I have to push the button many times or try to wiggle it when pushed but there's no rhime or reason as to when it will come on. Once on, it runs fune.

I would try a new keyboard. The power button on that model is actually part of the keyboard, and the carbon/rubber contact breaks down.

Hi Jodi .
Dyson has a very good customer service .
https://www.dyson.com.au/support/dc07/dc07-origin/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-won-t-switch-on-or-cuts-out/my-machine-is-working-intermittently/obtain-telephone-support2
I had problems with my pull along ball type dyson and it was the power switch. I replaced the power switch but replacing the switch may be beyond your capabilties or it could be the motor and this might void the warranty on the unit. plus you need special torx drivers to unscrew a dyson.

My Asus X553M laptop is not booting up. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Temitope, Hard reset. Open computer, remove battery, hold power button down (((1 minute))), reinsert battery, reassemble laptop, push/hold power button a couple seconds.
2nd fix, try to boot laptop without hdd.(hard drive). Remove the hdd, then turn on the laptop.. then it can get into the bios.. reset the bios to the default setting, turn off the laptop, and then turn it on again with hdd reinstalled. This seems to be what works in the forums with this issue found in Asus laptops. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Simply won't turn on. All the power at the plug has current but nothing when you push the on button.

Gary, Could be power supply failure. Links below for trouble shooting your problem.

I have a lenovo Y5100 which i bought 3 yrs back.. the problem i am facing is that post formatting the computer last month i tried to upload the vista recovery disk. This works fine but only for a month....

Welcome to Fixya

Try to restore the computer back to factory state instead of using the RCD. Turn off the computer then push the small button located beside the power button. The screen should show you the One key recovery. Select one key racovery then select restore from initial backup.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Sometimes when i try to turn on my compAQ PRESARIO F700 i have to hit the power button numerous times before it will power up and one it went into a reboot cycle where it would never make it past the POST....

the button that you're pushing is then pushing another button on a circuit board. Sounds like the external button that you're pushing isn't making good contact with the button on the circuit board. It may be turning back off while booting up because you've had to push the button so hard to get it to come on that it is getting stuck and holding down the circuit board button - causing it to shut off right away. I'm not guaranteeing that this is the problem, but I've seen it happen before. Some of the older Compaq's had this issue. If you have a mail-button (looks like an envelope) along the top strip by the power button, then try pushing that to turn on your laptop.
