Question about Samsung RS2530BBP (25 cu ft) Side by Side Refrigerator
Researching this issue and found that the issue may be the defrost timer. I unplugged the unit and let it set for about 6 hours and now there is water in the drip pan that wasn't there before. I have been trying to locate the defrost timer but I am not able to locate it. I read on other sites that this model does not have a defrost timer but that there is a defrost sensor on the heater. Is there a defrost timer on this model and if so, where is it and what does it look like and can I replace it myself? This unit is only 4 years old and I really can't afford to replace it. I have been looking for a diagram but have not been able to locate one. I have the users manual but it does not have a parts diagram. Thanks!!

hi there this is a common fault you need to replace the evaporator cover with the new modified one which has a large heat sink around the fan to stop iceing up also you will need to replace the thermal fuse and the defrost sensor.
hope this is of some help

it sounds like the refrigerator evap is frozen up causing the compartment to get too hot. shut the unit off and let it thaw out. then take the screws out of the cover to check the stryrofoam on the back side of the cover to see if theres broken spots on it causing the air to bypass the evap causing it to freeze. Theres two screws behind the light cover and two at the very bottom of the cover and two behind the decorative plugs about 1/2 way

That model has a flaw that the defrost heater is woven into the evaporator. I think you may have a 5 year sealed system warranty and if the defrost element is defective the complete sealed system evaporator will need replaced. So I believe that a complait filed to the company regarding this flaw will get their attention and may solve the cost of repair.
