SOURCE: HP 3210 Ink System Failure error code 0xc18a0307.

I have the HP Photosmart 3210 All-In-One with this stupid ERROR 0xc18a0307. I didnt purchase this printer, my uncle gave it to me and told me how much it was worth. That was enough to motivate me to try and fix it. Im not an IT guy or computer geek..probably just lucky...Maybe it was this "L.A Confidential Kush" weed!!! : D

My uncle gave this printer to me w/o the yellow cartridge so i went to Best Buy and bought HP Photo Value Pack for like $40. Before i did the steps mentioned below, I pretty much did everything that you could find as a troubleshoot process and it failed. I then decided to remove the cartridges and open up the ***ing printer and tried to get to the sprayers so that i could use the CRC Mass Air Flow cleaner ( I spent 6.99 for it at Auto Zone. as a last resort.)When i noticed how complicated everything was getting ( it totally killed my high!! ) I said **** it and re-assembled the damn machine. Before I started putting everything back i noticed that the white plastic spocket was off of the metal hex plug that is connected on the left side ( if you are facing the front of the printer while its taken apart ) so i placed it back on carefully and continued the re-assembly ( i dont know if this was the cause of the ERROR 0xc18a0307, but previous suggestions mentioned that it might be a mechanism failure.) After I was done putting everything together I put the cartridges back, plugged in the power cable from the back of the printer first, and then i connected it to the power outlet. I then connected the USB cable to the back of the printer but i forgot to plug in the USB to the CPU ( as mentioned below ) Then i did this ****....

( and i did this with everything connected except the USB cable, only because i forgot it was disco'd from CPU )

1. Put all the cartridges back into the printer. ( only if you didnt already do it after reading my story )

2. Press and hold down the four buttons at the same time:
OK, Cancel, Black, Color while the printer is off.

3. Then you hit the POWER button ONCE and then hold it AFTER it blinks or turns on and release the four buttons. DONT LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON!!
( it might show that its resetting but i dont remember )

4. hold it for a full minute or until the copy button turns on
( i dont know what happened first because i was stoned and i started thinking about what i was going to do first if this stupid sequence worked, >8 D )

5. The copy button will light up and you will get a menu that asks your preferences.

6. Go thru the preference selection and then when your done hit the copy button with something you could copy in the scanner. Select number of copies and It should start to copy if the process worked. ( you will see the display in the cool little screen that says " Copying...." if not, try it over and over. you might find another way to fix YOUR problem.

Then i printed a doc from my computer and it worked.
After that, I scanned something to my computer and it worked. This is all i was able to try since i dont have a landline!!

I wish everyone luck with thier HP Photosmart 3210xi All-In-One!!

SOURCE: Having difficulty getting my HP photosmart 3310 to

Hi,

There are several special key combo for ex. 1-2-4 and 3-2-9 also 1-2-7 depending on the purpose of using it.

My suggestion would be,
Remove the cartridges,
Clean the golden ( electrical contacts ) with lint free cloth
Put the cartridges back and check if the error message disappears
If not,
Try the Full reset following these steps
Disconnect the power cord from back of printer ( while printer is on )
While holding the # and 6 button, connect the cord
( if you do this reset, the printer will loose all the memory it has stored like fax logs, will get disconnected from Wireless network )

The error message is likely due to a cartridge expiry date and certain printers do not accept such expired cartridges from present date. Try replacing such cartridge

My photosmart 2710 keeps saying remove and check cartridge on right, i have done this numerous times and still coming up what does this mean?

I had the same problem, I have tried resetting (with #6 or #3), cleaning, unplug, plug, remove, replace,..., nothing worked.
UNTIL...

What worked for me
1 - While printer is on, go to the "Mfg Commands"
(on my printer I had to press "*" and "#", others would need to press both left and right arrows, etc.)
2 - You will get the following message "Enter special key combo", then enter "123".
3 - Press the right arrow until you find "Special Reports", click OK
4 - Press the right arrow until you find "Print Cartridges", click OK
What was my surprise when at number 3, it started printing !

And then, everything came back to normal !

Super cool !

Hope this works for you !

Photo paper draw on C7280

I had the same problem and ended up in a very long chat session with HP online. It was very helpful -- they basically had me reset the printer to the factory settings. Press and hold print photos and red eye removal for 3 seconds. The printer should show Mfg Commands and under that it shows Enter Special Key Combo. In a sequence press red eye removal then print photo then red eye removal. It should then show uiaux and Support VixxFN0724AR. Press the right arrow key twice. It should then show Resets Menu. Press ok. It will then say Country/Language Reset. Press the right arrow key till you get the option of semi-full reset. Press ok. The printer should turn off. Wait about 10 - 15 seconds and then turn the printer on.

I basically told you what the chat session person said. If that doesn't work, I highly recommend that you get online support (it should be free) via their chat support.

Good luck!

HP Photosmart C8180 - Ink System Failure - Oxc18a0101

i had exactly this error message. Rang HP. They said it was a hardware failure, they couldn't fix over phone, would cost 2x cost of new printer to fix, but they offered me 20% discount on new printer if ordered over the phone.

But with some fiddling, problem now resolved. Here's what I did:

- press Red Eye Removal and Print Photos button together
- goes to Mfg Commands -> Enter Special Keys Combo. Press OK
- uaiux Support page (some code) -> click right arrow key until you get to System Configuration Menu - click oK
- should say hardware failure status - click OK
- says hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear
- I clicked OK on this and system reset itself and problem was solved

Region settings for HP Photosmart D7160

You can try this, but I still thing you need HP tech support to tell you which numbers you should enter, because they vary from printer to printer.
  1. You should have your printer connected to a windows PC with a USB cable even if it is a network printer.
  2. Press * and # keys to bring up the "Mfg Commands" screen. I assume this is only used by HP service staff.
  3. The "Mfg Commands" screen asks you to "Enter special key combo" which is 123 then press ok.
  4. Use the right arrow key to step through the menus until you find the "Special Reports" menu then press ok.
  5. Use the right arrow key again to find the "Print Cartridges" menu and press ok
  6. This will print out a page with numbers ranging from 11. to 74. This page will print regardless of the print cartridges in the printer and whether they are valid print cartridges.
  7. The numbers of interest to HP support will be 11,21,25,52,62
  8. They will use the above information to generate a new set of five lots of 4 numbers.
  9. You will need to enter the 5 lots of 4 numbers onto a windows PC which has the HP drivers installed.
  10. On a windows PC with HP drivers installed open notepad and select print to bring up the printer dialog .
  11. Click on "preferences" in the print dialog window to open the HP preferences dialogue.
  12. Holding down the control key double click the HP icon in the bottom left corner of the preferences dialogue to open a service maintenance menu which will allow you to enter 5 lots of 4 digit numbers which HP staff will provide.
  13. Once you have entered the 5 lots of 4 numbers and press ok a data file is sent to the printer which changes its region settings.
  14. You then have to switch the printer off for about 1 minute then back on again and your new cartridges should now be valid.
Or try this, but I'm not sure if it works:
  1. press *# together
  2. press 127
  3. change from user to mfg mode
  4. shut down restart
  5. press power button after a graphic screen
  6. see rainbow screen
  7. press power button again

Try updating your drivers first:
Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers. Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done
