SOURCE: dishwasher not draining completely

I was having the same problem with water sitting at the bottom of my dish washer. I had recently installed a new garbage disposal when the problem started. You need to make sure that you knock out the inlet valve where the disposal drain line hooks up. If you have never hooked up a washer to your disposal, this piece will be in place. Stick a flat head screwdriver in where the drain hooks up and hit it with a hammer and the small plastic circle will pop out. The washer does not use any water when that is blocked and therefore will leave the old water to turn rancid...I hope this helps!

SOURCE: kenmore dishwasher has stopped draining.

remove the kick panel below the door, place a pan, etc under where the drain hose connects to the drain extension tube, and slide the clamp back some so you can slide the hose off of the extension tube (white plastic tube) and drain any excess fluid into the aforementioned pan, etc., then unscrew the extension tube and check for plugs, or restrictions.
the sump may also be pluged beneath the strainer assembly, and that requires removing the lower spray arm, the water tube that runs up the inside back of the unit, and the upper parts of the assembly below them to access the drain/pump sump area.
last but not least the impeller is jamed and might be able to be freed by removing whatever has lodged within there..
ya never know...
best of luck,
ttfn

SOURCE: the dishwasher won't drain completely.

If the heater element in your dishwasher is working correctly, and there is still water left in your dishwasher when the cycle completes, you may have a clogged drain pump (located beneath the dishwasher). You will need to remove the dishwasher and disconnect the drain pump hose to check for clogs. You may also need to remove the drain pump and check it for clogs or correct operation. If the drain pump is found to be bad, replace it, else clear the clog and try again. If you drain hose is going to a garbage disposal unit, check the hose connection and check inside the garbage disposal unit for a clog. You may also want to check the hoses for a clog under the sink if your dishwasher is connected this way.

SOURCE: Dishwasher won't drain.Leaves several inches

Check for blockages in the base of the dishwasher under filter etc.
Also make sure the kitchen drain is clear and if you have garbage disposer run it prior to running the dishwasher.

Also need to confirm if the dishwasher pump is actually operating during the drain cycle. If the pump is faulty then it will not drain. Provide full model number of dishwasher if you need further assessment of the problem. Good luck.

Dishwasher won't drain completely. Several inches of standing water left after last cycle

Sounds like the wash/drain selector valve might be stuck. my Kenmore operating solenoid rusted and hung up. I cleaned and oiled it up. You can also have something that got into the valve and it won't close, or an obstruction in the drain hose or the drain pipe connector. Something is restricting the flow or the pump itself may have a bad impeller. Does it wash with vigor or has it lost a little oomph and sound different? Does it leave any debris on the dishes?

Kenmore Dishwasher is not draining... checked drain line at disposal..not it. Have diassembled much of the housing at bottom of tub but still can't get to drain. Any suggestions?

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Hi we have a Kenmore Dishwasher Model # 13744K and it won't turn on. It has water in the bottom that won't drain. Please advise. Thanks. John Webster.

For a dishwasher that was rated pretty high by Consumer Reports, it does not clean very well. In addition, the plastic control button cracked in less than a year and I must constantly clean around the inside of the door ... and I never received my rebate.
Despite those issues, it has been a workhorse. My wife is a daycare provider and the machine is used twice a day (on average) and still runs well. On a monthly basis, I alternate a pint of lemon juice and a pint of vinegar to keep it clean and once per year I use a granulated dishwasher cleaner.
