Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have a Magic Chef Smooth top electric range that is about 14 years old. Model # 3888VVV. F-7 code is being displayed in the clock screen and a constant beeping sound is occuring. What problem does this code refer to?. As far as I can tell, the stove is in working order.

F7 is a bad touchpad. Replace control, part # 12001603. It's about $300 new but there are some used ones on ebay for much less. Hope this helps!

Magic Chief "Chateau" double oven,

I just had the top completely off of our Magic Chief, which I love and refuse to part with, to fix a problem with one of the burner switches. I believe if you pry up gently in the crack in front with a blade, i.e. small pry bar or screwdriver, being very careful to not chip the paint, the top will snap loose from the two prongs that hold it in place. Then if you disconnect the cluster of wires going to the burners, which is very easy to do, (they just plug together) and remove one screw holding the ground wire toward the back, you can lift off the whole top and get to all of the good stuff. I find the quality of our old Magic Chief Chateau to be of exceptional quality, much better than I see today and I'm pleased that our burner problem was just loose screws. Good luck.

F-7 and beeping is occurring on my Magic Chef,

Hi sixgunromeo,

The error code F7 means that the Function key is shorted or stuck. TO fix this error, replace touch pad or if touch pad is part of the clock, replace the clock (ERC).

Hope it helps.

Magic chef smooth top electric free standing oven temperature

Most likely a bad temperature sensor if the bake element is coming on and not reaching temperature.
The temperature sensor is in the back wall of the oven up high on the right or left side depending upon your model number. It is about 3 inches long and about the size of a thin pencil. It removes from the inside of the oven.

"F1" error code on Magic Chef gas range Model 3488XRA

I'm not sure how to fix this, but my mom's magic chef has been doing this for close to 10 years. She's managed it by plugging a power strip into the wall outlet and plugging the stove into the power strip. Then she can just turn on the strip when she needs to use the oven. It only requires moving the unit once, and is easy for the technological/ home repair novice.

Oven or smooth top will not turn on. breakers are good and it is plugged in.

Unplug the range. Wait a few minutes, then plug the unit back in.  Reset the clock per your user manual. A pdf copy of your manual may be available on line at the Magic Chef site or the Maytag site, since Maytag has or had a similar model.
