Someone is using my bandwidth my modem lights are flashing

My bill for internet in the last two months has been way higher than usual due to extra bandwidth usage. We are doing nothing different. I have tried to call Bell and they reset my modem..but it is still bad. The lights on my modem are flashing like crazy and when I do a usage check it shows that the upload is huge.

If you think that someone is using your wireless network then you should make/change your router password, if you dont know how , just search google for it.

Good Luck

Why am I being billed for an account that was canceled last month?

Most providers bills the customer the next month of your usage. So probably, you are billed for the services you used last month.
One sure way to know is to call the provider and get a clarification why you were billed. But if you canceled last month, this should be your last bill to pay.

I want to speak to someone about getting Netflix.

1. In a web browser of your choice navigate to
2. Click the red button "Join Free for a month"
3. Choose a plan

Basic - least expensive and ideal for a single user that is not concerned about video quality, this allows one device to connect at a time, if you have a family that really likes to watch movies and parents and children do not watch the same movies at the same time this may be too limiting to you. This would also be ideal for people with slower internet speeds.

Standard - middle of the road for cost, allows for one more (2 total) devices to be connected at one time. Also has a higher quality of video up to 1080p, this is ideal for households that need 2 spectate movies to be watched at once or the same movie at the same time on 2 separate screens or devices. This will increase the bandwidth used in the house hold and high speed internet is highly suggested.

Premium - just as it sounds it has all the bells and whistles this would be ideal for people looking for ultra High definition video can have 4 different screens playing video at one time. People that have a 4K television or 4K playback devices would find this useful, very high speed internet connection is recommended to make the best use of this package.

4. Enjoy a free month and if you are not sure which plan to use Netflix makes it easy to switch between all of them to see if you are getting something that fits, you can switch up or down at any time in the process without consequence, until the next billing cycle arrives. You will be billed accordingly to your latest choice.

5. Enjoy, Netflix is a wonderful service :)

What is a bonded channel signal

A 'bonded channel' is where the modem combines two or more channels together, for increased bandwidth.
The first light <Power> should be green, indicating power is on.
The second <Receive> light can be green or blue. When it is steady green, no bonding is occurring, (less bandwidth). A steady blue light indicates that the modem is using more than one channel for downloading. That is too say, it is bonding(higher bandwidth). That is the preference.... (If green or blue, and flashing, modem is still setting up....).
The third light <Send> can be green or blue. When it is steady green, no bonding is occurring, (less bandwidth). A steady blue light indicates that the modem is using more than one channel for uploading. That is too say, it is bonding, (higher bandwidth). That is the preference.... (If green or blue, and flashing, modem is still setting up....).
The fourth light <Online> is green, only....
If green and flashing, it is scanning for a connection.....
If green and not flashing, it is finished scanning....
The fifth light is the WiFI indicator of network traffic. (It also is used for WPS pairing, which I doubt you will use. Just stick with the WiFi indicator function...). It should be green, normally..., or non-WPS....

If #2 is blue, and 3# is green, normally...., I suspect that there is too much loss in your in-house system of wiring, and splitters. If that is the case, try putting a 8-12dB 'tap', in series with the whole house. That way, the loss is minimized for your modem to 'send' high bandwidth stuff upstream to the cable guys.... Be sure that the modem is connected to the 'tap' port, the house to the 'out' port, the cable company to the 'in' port of the tap block. I pasted a couple of examples of taps, at the bottom of this, to show the port labels. The tap loss to the rest of the house, is minimal to how well everything else works. I get a +15dB signal from the cable company. But, too many splits, left my modem in low speed upload mode. By-passing the splitters of the house, by adding the tap as only loss to modem uploading, my blue light always stays on. I also added an UPS, to cover power failures, and glitches. That was a well spent $50 special!

Motorola surfboard 5100 garden walled error

Sounds like your modem is in a provisional state. Walled garden is simply a tool to provision a modem..... a way that a cable or ADSL company uses to verify that the equipment is associated with a paying customer. Call your ISP if you are unable to access anything past that page via a browser. Chances are your provisioning record is lost, your modem has changed, there are too many devices connected directly to the modem, or there are other account issues such as nonpay status.

Before you call...
Check your modem connections, most companies will not allow two IP addresses to be issued to one piece of equipment (modem) without an extra fee, some companies will not allow two devices to be connected to a modem at all. If you have a device connected USB to the modem and another device connected through the ethernet port...disconnect one. I suggest going Ethernet and using a router if you wish to have more than one device connected to your modem.

Make sure the modem that worked yesterday is the one you are using today. If you've recently replaced your modem, you may need to call your cable company to register the new modem. One modem = one instance of service.

Check your bill due date. If your bill is past due, you may need to satisfy the past due balance before being allowed past the walled garden.

Vidios on youtube stop for two or three minutes at a time, why?

This account for many things but most times it is slow Internet connection. Video take up a lot of bandwidth. If you are downloading a video AND veiwing other websites AND someone else is using a laptop, your bandwidth is narrowed down a lot.

Option 1. Increase your bandwidth - upgrade to a faster Internet speed.Option 2. Close programs not in use.

One final option is to refresh the connection. Unplug power from your modem for 1 min, plug back in and retry your download.

Good Luck

Someone may have hacked into your router and is using up your bandwidth.

go into the router and change (or enable) the security settings. If you don't require wireless, DISABLE it.
unplug and reconnect the modem/router
reset the computer.

PS - don't think that just because your wireless security is configured that someone can't hop onto it.
I have an old P-III laptop that can crack a 128 bit WEP key in 8 minutes!
Disable the wireless if you don't need it or change to WPA/WPA2 personal.

It may even be that someone hadn't hacked in to your system YET but was attempting of the tricks to hacking a WEP key is to inject signals at a high rate of speed which would bring your router to a crawl.

I dont know of any ISP that charges you for the rental of a modem.
I am in the UK, and every internet service provider gives you the modem (and usually a wireless router) free with the package

The 100m light flashes but the 10m don,t flash even though connected but speed very slow

The speed you are connected to your network at is 100mbs.
the 10m light shouldn't flash unless that's the speed of your network.
the slow speed is probably due to the bandwidth usage to the internet.
if anything else connects the internet on the network it will share the bandwidth. also depends on the broadband speed you are subscribed to.

Why does my skype and oovoo constantly keep dropping video calls, I have the Nx-3000 microsoft web cam. This is the second web cam I've bought in 3 months. I just bought the cam Jan 2 2010!! I've ran all...

Video call need a lot more bandwidth than normal ones. Unless you have a plan with guaranteed bandwidth yours will normally fluctuate so if it will fall below the minimum for the call then the call will be dropped.
The video cam has nothing to do with it, it's the video signal. You can drop the signal bandwidth by reducing the resolution and the refresh.

Getting disconnected while multi player games

Are you using too much bandwidth? Try disconnecting all other internet sources. Then try it. Our internet phone would be disturbed if we were using any bandwith
