Question about IBM ThinkPad i Series 1300 Notebook

2 Answers

I have a thinkpad iseries 1171 and would like to know if XP will run on it. Also, is there a way to send Vista data so an XP can read it. This is on another machine, a T60. Thank you, Doug

Hey Dish... I'm answering your question from a ThinkPad i1300 model 1171-4mu running XP Home. It runs quite nicely if you prepare your machine beforehand.

You'll need more than the 10 gig hard drive which comes on the machine. I upgraded to a 40 gig model I found on eBay. Also, be sure your RAM is maxed out at 192 meg.

I'm not sure what you mean about sending Vista data. If you mean files.... a USB flash memory stick work fine.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

IBM ThinkPad iSeries 1400 LCD not functioning

I am afraid you are correct, your laptop screen is not usable and unless you’re a trained professional I do not recommend trying to repair the monitor itself. In fact, to do so would be rather dangerous to your own well being, but you do not have to throw your ThinkPad away. You could continue to use it with the external monitor or you could send it into Dell and pay them for a replacement. Look around though, there are probably other people who could provide this service for less, beause large corporations usually charge you more than necessary.
