I have tried cleaning with straight vinegar and vinegar and water. Some scales were produced in ~ 1 tbsp water, but eventually, it fails to pump. This is an old coffeemaker, but has been quite adequate for periodic weekend use. I thought that I should pause here for consultation instead of disassembling! Your thoughts? Thank you, MaryT

The heating element burned out, its a common problem. Mr. Coffee tend to leak, I've had several of them.
SOURCE: clean light won't go out, can't use delay brew feature.
Try unplugging it for several minuets & see if it clears it..

My Mr. Coffee red light is blinking....did as manual said, but in vinegar and water and cleaned machine. Light is still blinking
SOURCE: leaks while filling
Mine just leaked and it turned out to be one of the rubber tubes from the reservoir to the heating element under the pot came off. I removed the 4+2 screws of the base plate, reinstalled the tube & since there are no clamps holding on the tubing, I used thin stainless wire double wrapped and snugged to ensure the tubing stays on this time. Note, there is wiring in the area. Make sure you do not short out any of the electronics with the wire if you chose to use it.
