It could be caused by a driver issue or overheating according to the ATI website. Hope this helps.

This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Uninstall and reinstall the current driver and if no joy, Try and older version, but nothing over 1yr old. If still not working, try a BETA version if available.

The display driver stopped working and everything just went blank. after restarting the computer, it seemed that the monitor cannot be detected anymore. and the monitor works. i checked it with my laptop....

Have you changed your hard drive?
You may need to update the driver.
Go to your device manager and see if your monitor or display adapter has been disabled.
If so, enable them.
Perhaps it is time to update your drivers.
Go to windows update and check for updates that apply to your system; if available, download and install them.
What OS are you using? Windows XP or Vista?
Consult this to see what some users have managed to apply as a fix for this problem:

Screen goes blank for a few seconds, i get an error from vpu rec.

Hey,

I'm sorry the video card has a hardware problem, have you overclocked it?

the card froze and stoped responding to the commands from the driver. so it had to reset.

This can happen if the card is damaged, by overclock, or the clocks are too high, voltage too low or too high, this is all related to overclocking.

But this can also be caused by overheating.
