no, I've made no changes. I had a 20" and the 23" running together with no problems, considered using just the 20" and sellling the 20, so I disconnected it, couple of days later hooked it up again with the computer powered down that's when problem arose.

My 23" Apple cinema display (2002) has black screen and code flashes three short flashes. How do I find out if the monitor is dead or the power supply?

The only way to test is to use a known working power supply or known working cinema display with the parts you already have.

Recently when I boot up my computer I get the monitor to display an image for about 2 seconds and then it goes to a black screen. if I unplug the monitor from the back of the computer and plug it back in,...

The capacitors for the power source are failing. This causes a short burst of power to get to the lamps, but then they cannot hold a charge to continuously power the lamps. You will have to replace the monitor. I suggest checking your warranty status and replacing the monitor.

I have a broken connection for the stand for an Apple mac M8536 23". Any ideas where I could get a replacement?

Yeah...mine cracked right across the point where it does the work;but I covered the joint in super glue and its been fine ever since. Strong enough to hold up the screen.
Try it cos I doubt if you'd find a replacement.Paul

I have a g4 computer with s dvi and vga output i also have a m8536 monitior with one cable coming from it . what do i need to make it work

The "cable" you talk about is probably the power cable of the monitor. You will also need a VGA or a DVI cable to make it works.

I have completely black screen, and the powerlight stays blinking, can't shut it off

First place to check will be the power supply section, look for caps with bulging top, post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Monitor cold start issue only as #2 monitor

The start up problem is common and will only get worse. Call Samsung as these monitors have a 3-year warranty. No receipt? They will accept your word regarding your purchase. I have two that failed exactly the same way. I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and they gave me the choice of an exchange pair sent directly to my house (requiring a temporary credit card deposit) or by having the exchange pair sent to the UPS store where I would swap out my bad units. No receipt. They merely asked me when I purchased it so they could have it for their records. Manufacture dates such as your (March '06) and a purchase of September '06 are not far fetched at all. .

Black screen after a couple of seconds

The monitor needs to be replaced. I had an LG LCD that did this luckily it was still under warranty. Contact the maker and have your receipt handy. Otherwise buy a new monitor. Monitors tend to be replacement only

Apple 23 monitor 3 blinks and then pause, top screen is dim.

I have an older 20" display. I have had this same problem on occasion, and coincidentally, just experienced it again this morning. It seems to occur after I do an OS update. I powered down the computer, disconnected the display, reconnected by pushing firmly into place, then powered up. The flashing stopped and the display works fine. You might have a different problem, but that simple solution worked for me.
