Problem for Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2008: Windows

Cannot enable symantec antivirus in Vista

I use Symantec Antivirus 10.2.0.298 for Vista Premium 64-bit version. But i cannot enable the auto-protect. It always show a red circle on the system tray. How can i solve this problem?

1. run the liveupdate
2.click on start and inside the start search type msconfig check whether it is in selctive or normal startup (it should be normal startup) change the date to one month before and run the liveupdate again and restart the computer
