Question about Dewalt DW788 Heavy Duty 20" Variable Speed Scroll Saw: DW7881 Worklight

1 Answer

I have a 20'' dewalt scroll saw that will not start

The saw has been setting for about 12 months, was working fine, took it down to use it and get no results when I hit the switch. I get voltage out of the switch , the motor is free, brushes look fine. Any ideas would be appreciated

Saw seemed to lock up. Moving arm up and down fixed problem temporarily but now won't move at all.

If you are getting voltage then it is most likely the control board. You would need to take it into a repair service center and they would have to pull the whole thing down to repair.

Dewalt Scroll saw. Suddenly I can barely get a piece of 2 inch stock (actual 1 1/2) under the hold down.

I know this sounds patronizing, but have you cleaned it and made sure no wood shavings are clogging anything up. Also my husband sharpens his teeth with a special little file, I am talking about his chainsaw but its still a saw, one more thing, does it need oil? I hope something helps if not, sorry I am only trying to offer solutions!

Where are the brushes in the dewalt 788 20" scroll saw? Mine keeps blowing fuses & I think the brushes need cleaned but don't know how to get to them

Blowing fuses is not caused by brushes unless there is a huge spark show going on and if that is the case your armature will be trashed as well - the electronic module in that saw is notorious for failure and that is where I would start

I don't use my dewalt table saw during the winter. It is kept in a dry place. The top still shows rust. What can I do to stop the rust?

The best thing I've found to seal saw table tops is a good car wax. It keeps the rust down and is great to keep your work sliding easily on the top and won't stain your wood like oil based coatings would.

How to install air hose on dw780 scroll saw

To get the plastic hose in:
Hammer in one or two of the plastic joints from the plastic hose with a rubber mallet to build the foundation to the metal connector.
Once you get the plastic foundation joints into the Dewalt Scroll Saw. It's easy to add rest of the plastic hose in.
