Runs fast doesnt kick down

Not uncommon, I cheated, I set mine to idle when warm and let it idle a little fast when cold. It warms up and then idles fine. Unless you want to spend the money on a carb rebuild which didn't work for me or spen the money on a new carb which expensive, just set the idle when hot.

If the line is spinning but not cutting then most likely you have wound in the reverse direction.

try fuel filter if doesnt work check fuel pressure sounds like fuel pump if not filter

fast idle speed screw, works off the fast idle cam which the choke adjustment sets, it works together by linkages. This is the raised idle speed setting you need to keep a cold engine running. First you set the idle speed by the idle speed screw with engine at normal operating temperature. Then you set the linkage up so the cam is on a raised step, throttle will be held on that raised step. then you can turn the idle speed screw to get idle at about 1500-1800 rpm. Now when you start engine cold, choke will set the fast idle cam on that raised step- when engine starts and runs it should be running at your fast idle setting. That's how it supposed to work, you just have to get everything adjusted right. I hate carburetors, they never stay adjusted right. Considering their complexity and small mechanical parts, no wonder.

I believe you will find that your idle air control valve needs to be replaced. This is located on the Throttle body. After replacing the idle air control valve, make sure you disconnect the battery ( either the negative or positive cable ) and leave disconnected for atleast 10 minutes. Then reconnect and start vehicle, your car may fast idle for a short period of time before it returns to idle so is so your ecu relearns the correct postion and resistance reading

Unplug and then go inside the fresh food compartment and open the cover that holds the thermostat control. Join or straight wire the two wires together and if it runs you need to replace the thermostat. If not we need to move down to compressor area. I will need you to read off the model number that is on your refrigerator,For example sears numbers look like this 915.245687

The coolant temp sensor sends signal to the ECU and the ECU adjusts the idle RPM. When the coolant is cold, the engine requires more fuel to sustain idle with thick oil (oil gets thicker & more viscous when cold). This makes the engine to idle at faster RPM but it should settle down to 850 RPM or so after the coolant warms up. The sensor is nothing but a thermistor; a device that changes electrical resistance according to the coolant temperature.

Did you check for spark? Also try a new plug.
