Can't get it out of SAP mode. tried two different remotes. TV doesn't respond.

1. If you're watching TV via a Cable or Satellite box , then the SAP (Secondary Audio Programming) is activated in the box, not the TV. Check with your TV service provider how to activate/deactivate SAP in their box.

2. Only if you're using the TV's own built-in tuner to watch TV (you're changing channels by using the Panasonic remote for CH up/down), then press the SAP button on the Panasonic TV remote to cycle through the SAP options.

Tip

Cycle SAP function to restore sound on CBS channels

Apparently the TVGOS (TV Guide On Screen) signal on CBS stations (since the 6/12 digital changeover) can cause the sound to be missing on those channels. Use the SAP button on the remote to page through the SAP options. When you return to the normal setting the sound will be restored. This problem should not occur again unless the SAP button is pressed.

My volume stopped working on my panasonic viera plasma TV

Make certain that it is not muted or turned off. If it isn't check to make sure that the audio type matches what you are watching. If you are on SAP and there isn't anything on the channel in SAP the audio will be dead. If all those check out you probably have a bad control board. $130 to $200 to fix. Let me know how things work out.

HD TV is in Spanish, but corresponding non-HD is English

SAP (Secondary Audio Program, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_audio_program) set for HD channel.
Refer to TV instructions or look for a button that says SAP on it.

MONO - SAP

In the audio menu, you should be able to select stereo or turn off sAP -- you may have to unplug the set for about 20 seconds and restore power to reset it, or return it if the problem doesn't go away. If you end up replacing the set, try for a JVC, Panasonic or Toshiba if you can switch. I think they will last longer for you.
