This is a common problem with this machine. Per the manual E4 indicates that the machine is overloaded but this is incorrect. The machines has actually become water logged due to a design fault whereby some water is allowed to pool at the bottom of the machine rather being efficiently drained. Note that the area where the water pools is not rust resistant. To temporarily overcome the E4 error, tilt your machine backwards and the excess water will drain out the back corners. Remember to put some towels down to avoid a big mop up operation afterwards. I live in a coastal area so drain the machine this way once a month and then open up the back of the machine (don't do this if still under warrantee) to dry it out completely to minimise the rust.

I have a Kelvinator dishwasher,KD14ss, the door does not close ,ther is nothing in the way of the door ??

Hi Bets, It could be that the dishwasher door is hitting the installation cabinet or the screws holding it in place. Check to be sure the door is not hitting the cabinet or screws under the counter. Many times a screw may come loose and get in the way of the dishwasher door. If this happens the dishwasher door cannot close. Simply tighten the screw back into place and test to be sure the dishwasher door closes properly.

The dishwasher door hinges pivots on the bottom of the dishwasher frame. It holds the dishwasher door on and the pivoting allows the dishwasher door to open and close. If the dishwasher door hinges are bent or loose then the door cannot close properly. Replace the dishwasher door hinges if you find them to be bent or damaged.

Hope these will help.

I bought a new kelvinator diswasher kd12mm1 - will not start, and shows E1 error. No water? but the connections are all done properly and the water is open. My previous machine had no problem with water...

it is sad to say but some machines do get sold with bad new parts in them , call the place you bought , person who installed unless you did it, and tell them you need warranty service . FIXYA does not suggest fixes for brand new units as that voids any warranty you might have .

Kelivinator KD14SS - I'm getting error E4, what does this mean? What do I need to do?

The error code seen is due to the system tipping or hanging due to a fault of the input into the processor. So remove power and press down all pads and when it is plugged keep holding the start button. If this wont reset check with the manual to confirm.

Now it is best to identify the working so that we come closer to the fault. It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or back feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET valve to open up and allow water to flow into. If this does not happen then the voltage at the inlet valve must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor .

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water .

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

My kelvinator dishwasher kd14ss leaves stains in my glasses cups and small bowls in the upper rack after each wash. Never used to do it before - turned up the rinse and check the salt, but after each wash...

It sounds like you need to check the filters and clean them. It’s usually pretty simple to do but makes the dishwasher run like new. I think that it might be obstructed somewhere preventing it from being able to fully rinse the dishes. Is it draining all the water after the cycle has finished?
