Question about Linksys WRT54GX2 Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 (LS-WRT54G2)

1 Answer

Connection problem I have had my box for 2 years and now I can't connect using wireless.  I started to see the problem six months ago and it was off and on back then.  I could mess with the box and it would then work.  Now I can't even connect to it at all.  Is it the box?  I am on direct internet as I write this so that must be working.  I am not that computer smart, but I did try basic trouble shooting and am now out of ideas. Thanks for your help. Reynee

You can try to hard reset the router and update the firmware. Follow the steps below.

1. Download the latest firmware of the router from Linksys website. Save it on your computer.
2. Hard reset the router. Press the reset button at the back of the router for about 30 seconds, unplug the power for 20 seconds then plug it back in.
3. Connect your PC to port 1 of the router and access the router's setup page http://192.168.1.1 no username and admin for the password
4. Go to Administration tab > Firmware Upgrade sub tab.
5. Click Browse button and browse for the firmware file that you have downloaded from Linksys site. (.bin file extension)

After the upgrade, do a hard reset again. Repeat Step 2. Then you can reconfigure the wireless settings again.
Hope that helps.

If you're connecting to the router via wireless, try preventing windows from controlling the power of the wireless card on your computer.

Device manager > network adapters > "double-click your wireless adapter" > power management

then uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option

I hope this helps

It is possible that a neighbor purchased a wireless access point that it on the same channel and they are competing. Change your wireless channel. You could also try a hard reset. Instructions at D-Link's website. Good luck!

Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless router unable to connect to Internet

Try again by Disabling the WEP (or WPA), MAC Address Filtering and Firewall Setting Individually. Should be a problem with one of those. Then when you receive the Signals, try to Adjust using Bottom Up method. That means one setting at a time, Hardening the Security. Have you checked your DNS settings? Have you checked the Channels you are using? Re check them and try again.

Incredibly slow wireless connection when DSL connection is fine.

anytime you transmit wireless and connect wireless you loose speed. a lot of routers have a buffer in them to regain the transmision speeds. the antennae needs to be at a 45 degree angle as well for best transmission and tight. there maybe static in the lines called ingress. a bad connector or a radio shack splitter will kill off hsi. make sure your splitter is over 1000 mhz. the 900mhz are garbage. your netgear may also be the problem, and may be subject to warranty replacement.. it is very common. i install netgear wireless daily and i have seen brand new out of the box fail. also like my wife, she forgets to remove the torrent files from the vuze downloader and ends up seeding 20 albums which slows us down bigtime.

No wireless connection

Try updating the firmware, if the problem still persist. The antenna of the router must be the problem.
