Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Canon PC850 When trying to copy, the copier makes a loud buzzing sound, and the copied sheet comes out dark with thick lines down the center of the sheet (short way), and then jams. This happened every so often, though now will jam more often than not. Is it the cartridge or something else? Help! I took the drum out and the purple roller had toner lines that matched up with the bad line on the copies, and cleaned it with a clean t-shirt; it got better for a copy or 2, than bad again, but only on 2/3 of the copy.... top 1/3 prints beautifully. is there a proper way to clean it? what other implements should be cleaned (brushes, etc) could i have damaged it beyond repair? thanks. -jb

My HP laserjet 3015 puts thick dark line down the copy

Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1). Print something. When the paper gets about 1/2 way into the printer, open the top cover. Pull out the toner. Look down at the paper in the printer. Do you see a thick dark line? Replace the toner. No thick dark line, check the fuser for damage.

Wich roller?
If the sound is geting from drum unit, replace drum unit.
If sound is getting from bushings or axis apply small amount of wd40 or similar.

Want a B&W copy from colored sheet of paper w/o dark background.

It's never going to be perfect (unless the background is quite light in colour), because the copier basically "sees" the coloured background as "gray", and the darker the background the more "gray" it looks. Try setting the original type to "photo" mode, and then adjusting the exposure a little lighter/darker....that's all you can basically do.

Your problem is most likely caused by dirty optics. Place a sheet of paper on the glass & make 1 copy with the lid up. Look under the glass at the mirrors on the scanner & see if there is any dust on them. If so,turn the copier off & unplug it from the wall, remove the glass & wipe off the mirrors with a DRY cotton rag. There are 3 mirrors on the scanner assy. There is also three mirrors under the lens cover that should also be cleaned. After cleaning the optics, make a test copy.If your copies are still to dark, press the additional functions key & select exposure adjustment. You can lighten/darken all copies by changing this setting. If you have any problems or questions my email is bspier@carlsonsupplies.com Good Luck!!
