The lid has a prone that protrudes through a hole in the top of the washer. This prone of finger
makes contact with a lever that is connected to a interlock switch. If this switch is not made,
the unit will not enter its wash cycle. Try bending this lever up a little to make better contact
with the finger.

Samsung silvercare washer will not spin

How did you test the pump? These were my symptoms as well, and my pump was working intermittently. Sometimes, I could test the pump and it would work perfectly, and sometimes it would not work at all. Try running a load; the next time the machine won't spin, use the drain tube to drain water manually (I used a big shallow pan). There's a sensor in the washer that won't let spin start unless the water is below a certain level. In self-test mode, there's even a way to see what the machine is seeing as the water level. Anyway, let the water drain out manually with the drain tube; the machine should start spinning once the water is below the specified level. If the machine displays "Err" or "ND" before you have the chance to drain the water, you can hit pause once or twice and it will try to start the spin cycle again. To directly answer your question: If the machine will not start the spin cycle, it could be because the washer thinks the water level is not low enough to start the spin cycle. This could be because the water level is not low enough (ie a pump that's not working properly or a clogged hose), because the sensor that detects the water level is not working properly, or because the motherboard is malfunctioning. My discussion with a repair professional indicated that the pump is (by far) the most common culprit. I bought mine on Ebay very inexpensively (around $35, I think?). It is pretty quick and straightforward to disassemble the machine (check youtube for how-to videos). Just be careful -- they apparently used 2 different pumps more or less interchangeably on this model. Check if your pump is gray or black before ordering; I bought the wrong one. I made it fit because we needed the washer, but I ended up soldering the wires to the pump and re-routing some wires to make it work. It was a hassle. The electrical connector is different between the two pumps, so you'll be saving yourself a lot of hassle by ordering the right one.

Washing machine does not empty

see the causes and use the common sense, God bless you.
If your washer won't drain, check these: It spins, but doesn't pump It doesn't spin or pump It pumps, but the water returns It spins, but doesn't pump If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port. Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job. If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump. It doesn't spin or pump If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. It pumps, but the water returns If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems: If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess. If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Washer will not spin at all no code . will drain and tumble back and forth, when it comes time to spin it turns off.

A washing machine is basically a big tub that repeatedly fills with water and then drains, spins to wring clothes dry, and has a device for stirring things up-- either an agitator in the middle of a top-load machine or a rolling drum in the case of a front-loader.
The four cycles that every washer performs are fill, wash, drain, and spin. Though these functions are pretty basic, a number of things can go wrong with them.
There are a number of problems that you can fix quite simply; some issues, however, are better left in the hands of an appliance repairperson.Problems that commonly occur with a clothes washer are discussed in depth below. If your washer doesn't run, be sure it's plugged in and that the receptacle works (the circuit hasn't overloaded). Before working on the washing machine, be sure to unplug it.
To prevent problems, follow good maintenance procedures. Use the right amount of detergent for your washer and your water hardness, make sure the machine is level, and don't overload it for the cycle chosen.

Washing Machine Does Not Fill
If the washer doesn't fill, the water inlet screens may be blocked. Clean or replace them. (Check your owner's manual for the location of the screens; they're often located at one end of the supply hoses, or you may have to remove a panel to access them.) Other reasons for not filling may be that either the timer or temperature selector is broken--both of these are repairs for an appliance repairperson.

Washer Does Not Spin
If your washer doesn't spin, check to see if the clothes have jammed or are unbalanced in the drum before calling a repairperson. Unbalanced clothes will also cause a w
asher to shudder or "walk." If straightening out the load doesn't stop the washer from shaking, look at the feet underneath and be sure they are properly adjusted to keep the washer sitting level on the floor (you just turn them to move them up or down).
Clothes Are Wet After Spin Cycle
If your clothes remain wet after your washer's spin cycle, perform the following diagnostics:
1) Lift the lid during the spin cycle. If the tub is not spinning, you may have a damaged motor coupler. Call a repairperson to replace this part.
2) If the tub is spinning, recheck the load to make sure it is balanced. If you are certain the load is balanced but your clothes are still wet, you may need to call a repairperson to replace a damaged motor pulley, tub bearing, belt, or clutch.

3) You can also follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in "Washing Machine Doesn't Drain." You may have a problem with your drain hose or pump.

Washer fills and agitates but wil not empty or spin. I tried to bypass the lid switch and still same problem. How do I check the timer.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
OK first lets get back to the basics
First investigate these things fully
It doesn't drain dot_lineone.gif 1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

3. TIMER OR CYCLE SELECTOR
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. THERE IS NO REPAIR FOR THE TIMER

Kenmore washer fills during spin cycle and doesn't drain completely

HI, this is just a slight clog or faulty drain pump. check the following areas.

Machine is draining slow...probably from debris caught in dain hose or pump filter. Many people find safety pins, loose change and bra underwires lodged in the drain trapping lint, threads and other items which are narrowing or blocking the drain. The machine will only go into spin if it drains within a few (timed) seconds. Otherwise, the machine senses too high water level for spin out and shuts down.
