To reset the Belkin back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and then power for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access. On the display on the front of my Belkin G wireless router it displays a lit signal with a lock. How do In connect to Belkin support online

Sometimes theres a hard reset on the router that will take the lock off of it. It will be a small hole on the back or the bottom of it. Inserting a paper clip into this hole for 10 seconds while the unit has power will reset it.

You can also contact Belkin here at their support site for more troubleshooting information:

Thanks!

Locked up

Some brands of consumer routers are notorious for randomly locking up, dropping connections etc.

A quick fix would be to reset the router to factory defaults. This is done by pressing the RESET button for 30 seconds and reboot the router.

The best thing you can is to make sure you keep the firmware up to date. This is a file that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. The files are very specific so make sure you have the full model# and version of your router.

Once you have downloaded the firmware from Belkin's website, connect to you router with a wired connection (NOT wireless) and click on the option to upgrade software/firmware.

Firmware updates usually fix a whole slew of issues and should stop your router from locking up so often. Remember to enable security (WPA2 encryption) on your wireless network when you are finished with the upgrade, no reason to leave your network unsecured.

I Hope this helps,

If you have forgotten the login password you can RESET the Belkin back to the factory defaults and configure it again.
THEN

Mac laptops can't access an open (no security set) Belkin Router

A "locked" wireless means the router is encrypting packets of information as it sends/receives. You would need to enter the 64-bit or 128-bit key which was created by the router when you configured the passphrase to use.

My router is now locked and i didn't have it locked how do I unlock it

there is no lock down on belkin router.
do you have router portected? if not, some one lock your router.
the best ting to do is reset it to factory default. and start all over again.
to that :
With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1. This should show the router status page with the default settings.
