Do I remove the metal strip on the printer cartridge before putting it in th eprinter?

Hi, There is a piece if tape to be taken off and then you can put it in the printer. The tape covers the print head for packing. Turn on your printer and open the cartridge bay and put it in the slot making sure the copper part meets the other copper part in printer. Then close cartridge bay door and your good to go.Note: The cartridge should snap in when installed correctly.

You could try to remove both of your ink cartridges.
Turn printer off and wait at least a minute.
Turn printer back on and wait until printer recycle.
Printer will indicated no cartridge installed.
Turn printer off again and wait at least a minute.
Turn printer on and wait until printer indicated no cartridge.
Install back both cartridges.

Installing ink cartridge in Lexmark X125

The front panel is hinged at the bottom so grab the top and pull towards you.  Under that is a protective cover, the one with the 2 paper guides.  towards the bottom of that there is a hole in the middle.  Put your thumb in it and lift the cover up.  Your carrier for the cartridge is under that.  Please Rate!

That link will give you the manual..just in case you need it.

Printer cartridges not recognised

Sometimes even when an ink cartridge has been refilled to capacity, your printer still registers it as empty. This is because your printer remembers that the cartridge was previously installed and it can only remember it as being empty. Part of this is due to technology put in place by printer manufacturers so that you will always have to buy new cartridges. Part of it is also that print catridges are clogged if not used for sometime after its empty even after refilling this is because the contact was already clogged due to the dryness of the old ink inside it before refilling so in that case you will clean/soak the contacts with solvent before refilling .
again since there is no “official” way to fix this problem, you have to basically clear the printer’s memory to make it recognize that you are installing a full cartridge. If you have tried to install the refilled cartridge and you have done all you can to convince your printer that the cartridge isn’t still empty, then basically you just have to unplug your printer for a minute and then trying reinstalling again. but it should fix this problem and it can potentially fix other annoying things your printer is doing.
