Take the machine to a room that has no carpeting, (this is 'gonna get messy :-) First, make sure that the machine is unplugged from the wall, then remove the wand with the hose and verify that the hose, wand and vacuum head are not clogged up... check carefully, some clogs or items stuck in the hose and wand assembly can be hard to find! Then check the hose from end to end making sure that the hose is clear of debris. Then open the canister and check to see that the gasket around the top of the canister is not damaged, then check the belt coming off of the motor driveshaft is not binding or damaged. You should be able to rotate the belt by hand with the machine off and unplugged.

SOURCE: High pitched sound when vacuum is on

You may be loosing your bushings on the motor,if this is an expensive machine it may be cheaper to have it fixed,if not it will burn up eventually. Also try taking the beater bar out and make sure you don't have something rapped around it causing a noise.
Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me

SOURCE: Hoover started to make loud noise

It sounds like a bad motor. Take it to a local vac shop and they should be able to order the motor for you.

SOURCE: high pitch

The Hoover Fusion has design flaws in the motor, including a metal plate that is too thin to contain the forces acting on the motor, particularly the constant strong tension from the drive belt, and a plastic plate that is attached to the metal plate by two screws that gradually loosen over time. Assuming the filters and canister are clean, a high-pitched noise coming from the motor indicates it is about to fail as a result of these problems. You can replace the motor after it fails, but the problem will eventually occur again. For those very mechanically inclined, when the motor first starts making the high-pitched noise, you can dismantle it and tighten all screws.

what does the really loud noise sound like? Is it a loud, whining sound? if so, the motor may be getting ready to go out. Also check that the belt isn't stuck-though you would smell burning rubber if that were the case.

I have two older Filter Queen (brown vacuum cleaners). Besides unclogging the hose area and making sure it is not filled with dirt, what else would cause the machine to run hot and have a high pitched...

High pitched sound is often caused by air leaks in air ducts. This will also cause hoover loosing sucking power and slightly overheating.

If the hoover is overheating a lot, then noise can also come from the motor. In that case the part must be rplaced.

Try replacing the cone filter, the secondary filter, and the insulation at the top of the machine.
If that does not fix the problem, then the hoover must be taken apart to clean or repair the air duct.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that the suction fan is rubbing against the motor and needs an adjustment but don’t try to take it apart yourself, if it is less than one year you have a factory warranty on the unit and should actually take it to the local factory authorized Hoover vacuum dealer in your area and have him do the warranty work, if you try to do the work it voids the factory warranty. It is a minor problem and can be adjusted so contact your local vac dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Loud noise when running.

Bad bearing or fan in the motor is most likely the problem. You would have to replace the motor.

High pitched noise

It sounds like you may have a bearing problem. The motor bearing eventually gets damaged by the water vapor that is drawn in by the fan. This will cause a high pitch squeel from the motor. It is possible to replace the bearing, but it should be addressed by a professional techician.

Sounds like you have a clog. Make sure the filters are clean, replace if it has been more then a year, check the inlet down by the brush roll, your clog maybe there.
