Ignitors don't "blow flames". But a defective ignitor can glow but not draw enough current to allow the gas valve to open to the burners. Replace the ignitor. It's the "weakest link" and most likely part to wear out through use in the ignition system.
UNPLUG DRYER REMOVE TWO PHILLIPS SCREWS UNDER FILTER ON TOP LID ....
FLIP TOP TOWARDS WALL REMVOVE 5/16 SCREWS IN TOP CORNER OF CABINET AN LEAVE DOOR AND FRONT CONNECTED REMOVE DRUM BT RELIEV IDLER BELT TENSIONER INFRONT OF MOTOR AND SLIDE BELT AND DRUM OUT OF CABINET AND SET OUT OF WAY TURN DRYER IN TIMED DRYER NEAR 60 AND LAY ON FLOOR INFRONT OF DRYER ON FLOOR INFRONT OF DRYER INFRONT OF BURNER TUBE AND WATCH AND LISTEN IGNITOR SHOULD GLOW RED THEN A CLICK THEN IGNITOR SHOULD LIGHT GAS ..... IGNITOR DOSENT GLOW CHECK WHITE PLASTIC FUSE ... IF IGNITOR GLOWS AND NO CLICK THE REPLACE FLAME SWITCH ALUMINUM AND BLACK BOX ON LEFT SIDE OF BURNER TUBE ...IF CLICKS AND NO GAS REPLACE GAS COILS
Hi the most likely cause for this is a weak or failing ignitor. Remove the bottom front panel and observe with dryer running. If ignitor does not glow test it for 120vac if you have 120vac replace ignitor. If it glows but does not ignite the you ignitor is weak replace it.
If there is power to the ignitor and it does not glow the ignitor is bad. If it does glow, place a clamp on amp meter over one wire of the ignitor and turn the circuit on. If the ignitor reads less than 3 amps, replace the ignitor. If the ignitor glows and registers 3 amps or more you must check the flame sensor for correct operation. If the ignitor and flame sensor are both good, replace the gas valve coils.
if you have already replaced the ignitor and the new one is glowing white hot, not orange, and you have replaced the sensor, then the next logical part to replace would be the gas coils. hope this will help solve the problem.
the flame sensor rarely goes bad
if the ignitor is not glowing
then thats the problem
take an amp reading it shoud be between
2.7 and 3.6 out of that range it will not glow
if your not getting a reading you need to chase your voltage l1 is you most likely culprit
I find that quite often the ignitor is out of alignment or the glass window is covered with lint. a gas dryer blows air through a
burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists
essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any
part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low
or no heat and slow drying of the clothes.
There are two common styles of ignitors,
glow ignitors and spark ignitors. The ignitor ignites the gas
either by heating up and glowing, or by sparking. If the ignitor
fails, the dryer will not heat.
The easiest way to check the ignitor
is to observe it. Remove the small access panel in front, select
a high temperature setting and start the dryer. Watch the burner
assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should
begin to glow or spark. If you see it glow or spark, then the
ignitor is working.
Check the glow ignitor and make sure it is glowing, if it is not glowing then replace it, if it is glowing then check the gas valve.. But sounds like the glow ignitor is bad and needs replaced, if it is cracked it wont work either so look really carefully, maye even pull it out.
Hi!! make sure that you have 120 volts going to the glow ignitor.the gas valve will not turn on the gas if the ignitoe wont glow..if it glows the check yout coil boosters they are round and are located by the gas valve.then if not you have a bad timer.they are usually round and are black..good luck..
