Question about Sony "HDR-CX190 High Definition Handycam Camcorder Black"

Open Question

Sony Handycam HDR-CX190 is saving my videos to Private on my SD card

It is saving my video files to Private on my SD card. I am not computer savy at all. I do videos for YouTube and with my new editing software (Camtasia Studio) it won't import them this way. How can I change it to where my SD card is no longer saving it to Private.

SOURCE: Sony Handycam HD 1080 HDR-SR5E ---Retrieving deleted files from handycam

Those deleted videos are highly possible to be recovered, you should use video recovery software to help ASAP, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover photo and music files.

Video Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Video Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

A Tip:
Before your videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the handycam memory card or stick in case the original files(your videos) are overwritten.

I deleted some videos from my sony handycam DCR-SR68

First thing to note is that the deleted data on the sony handycam will remain there until something new is saved and overwrites it.

Either connect sony handycam straight to a PC using a USB cable or take the memory card out and put it in a card reader attached to the PC. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Computer.

Then try a camera recovery software on the PC. This should recognise the sony handycam or card and then you can scan it using the free download of good data recovery software. That will show you what files still exist on the camera or card and what can be recovered.

You can take the memory card out from Sony Camera, and then connect the memory card to computer with a card reader, you can then download a data recovery software to scan the memory card and recover lost photo and video files

Sony Handycam HD 1080 HDR-SR5E ---Retrieving deleted files from handycam

Deleting files from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash onyour comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. So a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.

As a result, you have chance to retrieve those deleted videos as long as the video data on your camcorder(memory card or hard disk) are not written over. And the best way is to try some video recovery software, recommended Asoftech Data Recovery as it helped me before, the program can also recover photos and music.

video photo recovery program

First of all you need to install the program on your computer, then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos.
