Dryer no longer hot

Could be the element, thermal overload, loss of one leg of the AC supply, a burned off wire or timer. Do you have fuses or circuit breakers? If you have breakers reset the breaker and see if the heat works. If you have fuses check each with an ohm meter. One leg of the 110VAC will run the motor but you need 220VAC to make the element heat. (that is if this is a 220VAC dryer).

My dryer stopped heating and spinning in the middle of a cycle of laundry. Is this the element that has gone bad?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

The heat element went out on my dryer a few months ago, then yesterday it stopped in the middle of a load. now it wont spin or anything.

Hello, you either have a problem with the door switch or the thermal fuse. check the door switch by hitting it manually with the door open. if the light does not switch on or is on all the time its a bad door switch, if the light switches on and off ok then the problem is going to be the thermal switch. it looks like this. b18122b.jpg Hope this helps. Dryer won't start all the time. can hand start unit.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like ur motor is going out. Had this happen to my last dryer. If this is the case it will eventually just stop. Try running it without any laundry in it. if this works, then load it and see if it still works. (poor little motor has to work a bit harder with a full load) good luck.

Dryer Gets Hot..But doesnt Spin

I don't know what kind of dryer you have, top or front loading, but it top loading it most likely is the belt that goes from the motor & wraps around the drum.
