Question about Makita Btd141 Lxt 18v Lithium Impact Driver - Bare Tool

Trigger Switch whats wrong with my drill driver? I dropped it and broke the handle off and in doing so the connectors came off the battery plug, i purchased a new handle / housing and fixed it however i think something may have shorted in the switch because when i put it back together it seems to cause the battery to go into some kind of safety mode, the battery then wont work until i put it on the charger and let it fully charge , only after that will the pack work again . I'm guessing something in the drill switch is causing this cause the packs work in every other makita tool i own once re charged. odd thing is the pack can be fully charged and when i put it in the repaired driver i pull the trigger and the led light comes on but the drill cliks and turns about 1/4 turn then stops, i can pull the battery out put it in another drill and same thing happens. but if i then put the pack on the charger it will charge and work properly again. provided i dont try and place it in the bad impact driver. the driver is fairly new and id like to repair it, any ideas?

I don't thinkk you got the motor aligned in the housing right. It sounds like it's in a bind causing the battery to over amp which shuts it down. The litium batteries have curcuits that detect overloads so you don't damage the battery. There are alignment guides in the housing and on the motor to help get it right.

SOURCE: have a DC18RA fast charger brand new from the USA.

Hey Chris
sorry to read of your unpleasant experience.
I assume you are in a 220-240AC net.

Anyway, this charger will not work well if at all with a universal charger because of the high power it needs.
You can use a transformer which cost a lot for this spec, modify the unit or buy a unit for 220VAC.

If you are into modding it, have a look at this page assuming you have model DC18RA T , P/N: 630516A7

If you are lucky only the fuse and probably a capacitor and varistor blew up, you should check this.

Good luck
Avi

the light is normally activates by the trigger, so either the switch has gone faulty or the wires running to bulb are contacting.

Wondering if anyone knows whats wrong with my drill...when i press the trigger the drill works sometimes and not others

Open the tool and control the purple and brown colored wire where the slide contacts are fitted on the carbonbrush holder or the switch itself.

Do allways the Battery slide connector contacts control

Remove the two sliding contacts loose and squeeze the contacts slide a bit and then connect again.
If unsuccessful buy a new switch as well as battery connectors are checked.

Bosch cordless drill not working.

First The model is pretty new. you need to register your tool on line. this takes you from a one year warranty to a three year warranty. They will give you a pro-vantage number. with that said it sounds like a trigger switch. Yhe trigger switch is the brain of your tool. not only does it do your variable speed but it also controlls the brake and your fuel gauge. Because of the cost I highly recomend taking it to your closes Bosch service center.

The switch is stuck on my Nikota electric drill. What do I do?

You will have to take it apart to get to the trigger. Most likely the switch broke but it could be the spring is out of place. Very fixable. You should have no problem getting a replacement trigger if it is broken.

Drill motor runs at full speed as soon as plugged in

I would have to think that it is more of a switch issue than brushes. If you remove one half of the handle do you see that the switch is burnt? But either way the current has to run thru it and if it runs when plugged in the contacts have welded shut to complete the circuit would be me guess. You can get a switch almost anywhere or go to Makitausa.com and order it direct. Let me know what happens please.

Re: Burned trigger switch: call the number on the drill (800.590.3723) and tell them what happened. They will offer to send you a new switch or have you send the drill in for replacement of the switch--although the person I talked with said they would probably just replace the whole drill.
