Have you installed any application/program prior to the blue screen? Most blue screen causes your system not to boot to your operating system anymore. It is possible that your hard drive is crashed due to a virus infections or spywares. Incompatibility and corrupted system registry may affect your system to have blue screen as well.
You may try the following steps below.
1. Restart your computer. After you pressed the power button to restart. Keep on tapping F8 key on the keyboard on and off.
2. Boot advanced option will show up on the screen. You may boot your computer to the following option.
a. Last known good configuration
b. Safe mode with Networking.
If Safe mode w/networking works, restore your computer to an earlier using the system restore features.

You mentioned trying a different battery, try a different AC adapter.
When plugging in the ac adapter to the wall, see if the POWER LED comes on on the adapter, then when you connect it to the computer, see if the LED stays on.
If the issue occurs with both AC adapters (No battery installed) then the motherboard has failed. If one ac adapter works but the other doesn't then the adapter is bad

Have you hooked it up to an external monitor? If you can see windows booting up on the external monitor then u may have a bad lcd screen or inverter or video card? Still lots of questions to ask.

Your last shutdown may have failed to execute correctly, corrupting the boot sector of the hard drive. You could attempt to start up in safe mode (F-8 at boot). If that fails try using a bootable CD such as came with your anti-virus application. That may also provide some helpful recovery utilities allowing you to restore the boot sector. You may need to use F-12 to make the computer boot from the CD.

If you hear the hard drive spinning and you think Windows is working but you can't see an image then :-
You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.
Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
