Did you try to take it apart make sure nothing is in the connection, and then try to reconnect again.

SOURCE: gas cook top

Most of the time when I come out for a service call with this problem, it is usually because the burner cap is not seated properly on the base. Look at the burner and make sure there are no uneven gaps. Most of the time you will have to rotate the burner cap till a notch or pin "seats" into place. Most burner caps just sit on the bases, and so they get knocked off or moved when the cooktop is cleaned or installed. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: No Ignition

Dirt. Spilled oil, grease, milk etc. act as isolator and prevent contact between burner and casing (mass). You need to clean up burners, scrub all the dirt and make sure their seats are cleaned too (brass elements below burners).

A single glass electrode isn't sparking on our GE gas cook top. The other four burners all spark fine. There is a spark underneath the cover on this single burner - just not on the electrode on...

Is this one that you use all the time? Maybe it's dirty and you could try to clean it somehow. If that doesn't work, you could find another sparking anode at a dealer and replace it. A toothbrush or other stiff bristle brush of similar type should do it. In the meantime, you can use a lighter with the gas on low to light the unit.
Hope this is of help

I have a 1962 or 63 Wedgewood 30' gas cook top. It has polite lights. Is there any kit to change it over from polite lights to a up to date igniter system?

no there is not the burners wont have anywhere the electrodes could mount to,plus it would need to wired for a spark module and find spark switches for the valves that were never designed to fit those gas burner valves
sorry

All cook top burners spark when any is turned on

OK, the best action is to call for service, if the unit was just installed, and purchased. This unit should be covered at this time, by the manufactures warranty, or store 30 day warranty. This repair should be free. The culprit will be a faulty spark ignition switch, and module. Testing is required. Once this switch, or(module), is replaced, the unit will operate correctly.

G.E Profile gas cook top #JGP640 ignitor.

It is sparking because the module does not sense the heat which would normally cause the sparking to stop.

It can be caused by a poor ground, make sure the ignitor at that burner is clean and free from any obstructions. If it is then it could either be a defective ignitor or spark module.

Spark module will not stop after lighting burner

The module might not sense the flame: check electrical connections: wire (and its contacts0 and conections by fryer chasis; to be sure please bond with 18AWG wire pilot burner with spark module green wire.
