Hope you already checked batteries. If not do it. Was the closet Hot? It takes a small allen wrench to remove the back of the calcul but it worked well for me. I cleaned all my buttons off. and then cleaned the front face that the buttons go through. Warning - move very very slowly or all the buttons fall off and you may not be able to remember the order they should be in. ALso, your ram will be erased so back it up first on your computer.

My calculator won't turn on the batteries are fresh plz help

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible. Does it?

Calculator went dead ... changed the AAA batteries .. still nothing .. changed the CR1616 battery .. still nothing ... worked great last night while doing my homework .. didn't drop it or bang it .....

It is possible that the screen dimmed too much after you changed batteries. One of the two procedures will work.

Press the [2nd] key and release it.
Press the UpArrow and keep it held down for a while. As you hold pressure on UpArrow key the screen should darken. Stop when satisfied.

Press [2nd] key and hold pressure.
Press the UpArrow repeatedly until screen darkens to your liking.

My calculator keeps rounding to the tenths place, I read I need to go to mode and change a setting, but I cannot find mode?

I am describing the procedure for the CAS with OS version 2.1 But it should work for your calculator.

  1. Turn calculator ON
  2. Press The HOME (House icon) button.
  3. Press digit key 5 to open Settings and status.
  4. In menu options, select [2:Settings]
  5. Use the arrow (right) to open the submenu options and select [1:General]
  6. The cursor should be on drop down box labeled Display Digits
  7. Use down arrow to open the number display format, and select Float 6 (an appropriate choice most of the time. If you want more digits, set Float 12)
  8. Press [ENTER] or Click to validate your selection.
  9. The drop down box will close.
  10. Use the TAB button to move to another Configuration setting. Pressing the TAB twice will take you to Exponential format.
  11. Use down arrow to unfold the Exponential format menu.
  12. If you do not need Scientific Format, use Normal and validate.
  13. Press TAB several times until cursor reaches OK.
  14. At this point Press ENTER to save Configuration.
  15. This should solve the problem.

As I said, this describes the procedure for OS version 2.1. Once you find out how to enter the setting screen, do as I described above, and do not forget to validate by getting the cursor on OK and validate.

I do not know how to put the tape into the calculator. There is a place in the back that it looks like it should go - I put it in there, press the advance paper key and nothing happens.

Push the roll of paper in until it will go in no further. On mine, it goes a bit more than a quarter of an inch. Once the paper is in all the way, press the Feed button until it shows at the top.

If it is still not feeding through, you may have a jam somewhere. Take the top of the paper area off and manually inspect the area to make sure nothing is out of place.

If you are still having problems, try feeding the paper in without the cover on. You can watch to see what is stopping it.

How to calculate to the seventh decimal form. it only configures to the sixth place

I I understand correctly, you want your results to be displayed with 7 decimal digits, right?

Pressing the MODE button/key will take you to the first page of your calculator default settings.
Scroll down the list to Display digits where it says on the right FLOAT 6

Press the right arrow to on your directional button, a list opens up showing all the options available for you.
Then you can select FLOAT 7 Pressing ENTER then ENTER will validate your new default stting and take you back to the HOME screen.

If instead you are interested in FIX 7 you can so choose.

Hope it helps

happened to me be4, except all my buttons didn' t work. I just did what people do in movies. throw it aroun, step on it, bang it against walls, desks , ect. Then my teacher took it away. The banging cleared all my ram. It was weird, but it started working.

I think the circuit board moved, and i hit it back into alignment.
