I have the same problem! What does this mean? I don't believe I deleted pictures that I took, but they are now not viewable, and I have this message come up every time I open the camera. Did you figure out what it means? There is no mention of it in the owners manual

My DSC-120 Super SteadyShot doesn't record pictures to the memory card anymore; only records on internal memory; how can I fix this?

If the memory card is full, this could explain it. Save all the current images to your computer, then format the card in the camera. For most cameras a reset will only remove your customised settings, not affect the memory card.

Your card is probably good. Go into the camera's setup menu and find the picture storage or memory section. Select external memory as default and you should be good to go.

My finepixZ20fd says ''images recorded to internal memeory'' and won't transfer the photos to the computer when the USB is connected.

The message "images recorded to internal memory'' is just a warning, that there is no memory card in the camera. It doen't necessarily mean that there are any images saved in the internal memory.
The message should rather have been "images will be recorded to the internal memory"

Photos I want aren't on my xd card but on internal memory????

You'll need to install the software that came with the camera onto your computer then connect the camera with the USB cable that came with it to your computer. The software will start when it senses your camera is connected and you'll be able to access the camera internal memory. Otherwise, you can copy the internal memory contents to the memory card from the camera itself from the menu system.

I can't find the images in my internal memory

In the setup menu, there should be an entry for something like "copy" which would permit you to copy the internal memory images to the memory card.

This means that the internal memory of the camera is full. Apart from the external memory slot, camera's have this what you call internal memory. It is built-in to the unit itself.

What you want to do is to set the default storage to the external memory instead of the internal once.

On the Menu, navigate to image store and then choose AUTO.

Auto (default)—the camera uses the card if one is in the
camera. If not, the camera uses internal memory.
Internal Memory—the camera uses internal memory,
even if a card is installed.

Also, you would want to set the camera resolution to a lower value to. The higher the pixel rate, the bigger space it eats up in your memory storage.

Images recorded to internal memory

They should be accessible by removing the memory card (if present) and powering up the camera. You should be able to view them using the playback icon (arrow). Access to erasing them should then be through the menu.

You can add memory to your camera by purchasing an xd memory card.
Compatible cards
xD-Picture Card (16MB – 1GB)
There are two ways to record the pictures you take with this camera.
Recording pictures to the internal memory
• Pictures are recorded to the internal memory, and when the number of storable still
pictures reaches 0, you must connect the camera to a computer to download the
pictures, and then erase the pictures from the internal memory.
Using an xD-Picture Card (optional)
• Pictures are recorded to the card when inserted in the camera. When the card is
full, you download the pictures to a computer, and then either erase the pictures
from the card or use a new card.
• Pictures are not recorded to the internal memory when a card is inserted in the
camera. Pictures in the internal memory can be copied to the card using the
[BACKUP] function.

a computer, the message [CARD ERROR] is displayed. To use this card with this
camera, use the [FORMAT] function to format the card.
