Erase hard drive hp1055

In service test menu scroll to "3.Hard disc drive", & press enter, if test drive passed don't replace the hard disc or modification or changes. If test failed then check as shown below:
1 Switch the printer OFF. Remove the EIO Card (if installed) and re-install the Hard Disk Drive making sure it installed correctly by pushing it firmly inwards and checking that the two installation screws are completely tightened. Switch the printer ON again and repeat the Hard Disk Drive Test. If the Hard Disk Drive Test fails again then replace the Hard Disk Drive.
2 If the Hard Disk Drive Test passed after removing the EIO Card, then switch the Printer OFF and reinstall the EIO Card, making sure that the two installation screws are completely tightened.
Switch the Printer ON again and repeat the Hard Disk Drive Test. If the Hard Disk Drive Test fails, then the EIO Card could be faulty.Replace the EIO Card.
3 If the Hard Disk Drive Test continues to fail after replacing the EIO card or the Hard Disk Drive, then replace the Electronics Module..

When I switch on the device I now hear a clicking sound coming from inside

A clicking noise from a hard drive indicates a faulty hard drive, it is known as the Click of Death.
If you need data off this faulty hard drive, there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

How do I replace power switch on fantom gforce 1tb external hard drive?

I have the same problem. These guys are clueless. I removed the warrenty sticker, undid the screws, and slid the hard drive bracket out easily with a little push. Unpleg the wire connecting the power switch to the board. Push the switch out from the inside, applying presure to the top and bottom. You've removed the faulty switch. Replacing it is my new problem.

When the breaker goes the on/off switch as a hard clicking sound that disappears once the breaker is re-set. The breaker is re-set but the compressor still won't start and the on/off switch still has the...

1. Disconnect the power or put the circuit breaker to
off position.
2. Disconnect the motor connection from the on/off
switch.
3. Put the circuit breaker to on position and put
the switch to on position. If there's a hard clicking
sound even without the motor. Then, it needs to be
replaced.
4. If there's no hard clicking sound, then, your motor
must be grounded or partially burned winding.
This must be corrected to get your compressor
running.

640 GB WD element hard drive has no power

Try it on a different USB port or on a different computer - is this hard drive powered via a mains cable ? If so is that plugged in and switched on as well ?
Also does the hard drive have an on off switch at the back or on it anywhere that needs turning on ?
Does this hard drive have a firewire port or another way of connecting to it ?

LaCie Hard Drive

The hard drive has it's own power supply. If you look on the back of the external hard drive, there is a power button there to turn it off. It doesn't shut off just cause you disconnect it from the PC or turn the PC off.
