Question about Grohe Freehander Adjustable Shower Head System Chrome

Grohe Freehander Won't Stay Up

My contractor installed the Grohe Freehander showerhead for us. About a year and a half later I was using the showerhead one day and decided to put it down for second to clean the bottom part of the shower and then realized the showerhead won't stay up on its own now. I think a screwed is loose somewhere and needs tightened but when I take apart either of the round, external nuts on the outside I can't make heads or tails of how to tighten anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

SOURCE: leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe

using a pair of vice grips wrapped in a soft towel( to prevent scractching) turn the shower head in a counter clockwise direction to remove it then apply liquid teflon (real-tuf) to the threads on the shower arm and tighten the shower head but dont over tighten it liquid teflon is more effective at sealing leaks than teflon tape and it can be wiped clean

Everything you installed new. Please chack if not one of the gaskets came in a pipe or a line. I once had a rubber ring almost complete blocking the water flow.

Why not refer this issue to Grohe? You can do some research to determine whether a competitor offers something equivalent.

I haven't had a lot of experience with Grohe brand but have had twenty eight years as plumber, 22 years as master plumber and the bottom port of every tub or tub/shower valve that I installed used the bottom as main supply port. As far as the instructions from manufacture like I said I have not used that particular brand much,so I really couldn't say. Hope this helps some. Thanks

I have a Grohe Freehander. One of the shower heads has hardly any water coming out. The other shower head has good water pressure. I have sprayed CLR on the shower head but it doesn't appear to have...

Try soaking it in vinegar...this will help break some things that CLR will not. Soak it for five minutes, then rinse, and try again. It will help a lot...rate if it helps!

Freehander leaks at shower heads

Hi

Thank you for your query

If you just grab the showerhead with one hand and then unscrew anticlockwise the pipe underneath it should just screw off, once this has been done simply replace the O ring and rescrew

I hope this has been useful

Without being ther and seeing I ofcourse can't be sure but based on what you have told me I would lean towards defect. There is no such thing as perfection in any assembly line. It's not ever easy to block water under pressure from coming from a place it was not designed to come from

Flow of water thru shower head is barely a trickle

There is a chance there is mineral deposits in the showerhead openings. You can try products sucha as limeaway by unscrewing the showerhead , soaking in the limeaway for a few minutes and rinsing with water. You may have to repeat this a few times to get it clean.
