Question about Olympus E3 12-60 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have an olympus E3 digital camera.

I am noticing that my camera settings are going back to a default setting while I am using it. For example if I am set at aperature priority at f 5.6 at 800 iso and it will default to the Manual setting at 125 iso and f 8. It even turned off a few times. Odd enough it did it consistently at a wedding Saturday to where I had to use my backup. The next day I turn on the camera and Ican not get the problem to happen again.
This has been happening off and on now for a few weeks now but not mnearly as bad as it did at the wedding on Sat.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc

The camera only takes black/blank pictures. I have no LCD screen. I am a novice, and this is my first SLR camera. I purchased it used off of Ebay, the previous owner swears that it worked when he sent...

Turn your camera off, remove your batteries for about 30 seconds and let it reset to default. Then try inserting the batteries and see if this helps. a link to go to is: www.olympus.com, then select americas, then select support, then select your camera, then download your manual in PDF format.
there is firmware built-in software which the camera uses to work properly. As a software, you can update it by connecting the camera to a PC and running the Olympus Master software that should have been included with the camera.
Then Set (PC MODE) in the E-300's (Set up Menu) to (Storage). If the operating system is Windows XP, remove the memory card before connecting the E-300 to the PC.
In the Olympus Master software Help Menu, you can look for "update firmware" to follow the instructions. Good luck
But be forewarned that it will only work if you have the newest Olympus Master Software Update, Olympus Master 2. Olympus Master 1.1 will not be able to connect with the online server. Luckily, Olympus Master 2 is a quick and free download from the Olympus site.
Otherwise this could be an intermittent shutter problem or speed setting going astray?
Look like it may be a trip to the Olympus Repair shop

Try to set all menu items to default as much as you can. Some cameras have a reset to default setting or a button to reset to default.
After setting to default, try the camera again.
If all fails, this camera will need repairs.
If it is too old, and not worth it, it may be the best to sell for parts on a site such as Ebay.

When I use the AUTO setting picture tends to be out of focus no matter how much care I take - on other settings is usually spot on. Shouldn't AUTO cancel all previous settings? J

Other settings can affect how it is set.
Go to the menus and find the setting for default factory settings or something like that. Set all to default.
    Then test.

I need basic set up as my daughter has been using it and seems to have changed the settings, i have had the camera 5 years or so and always had it on the basic settings

Pull battery and the memory coin-type battery out of the camera, wait a few minutes and reinstall.
It should go back to default settings.

Change picture size on olympus stylus 500

Make sure you go to the camera menu and go to the setup tab and change All Reset from On to OFF. This will retain the setting of the image quality to SQ2.

I have an Olympus FE-230 and it suddenly starts taking black and white pictures. I don't know what I did, but how can I get color back?

I have had my Olympus FE-210 for about 2 1/2 years just recently it started to display an all black screen after I took pictures and like many of you I would turn it off and back on just to get 1 picture out. After testing it over and again I may have solved the problem: First: remove all of the pictures and memory card from the camera Second: go into the menu and find the reset button it will then display that the camera will return to default(factory setting) after I did this I was able to take over 35 continuous pictures using every setting and scene setting the camera has If this doesn't work I would suggest buying a new camera Hopes this helps!!

    Master Reset Olympus x840

To reset the camera - have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - left arrow to reset - press ok - Highlight yes and press ok. This will set the camera back to factory default settings. Hopefully this should solve the issue.

    Display not on

The EVOLT E-500 does not have a live view LCD screen so you can see the image you wish to take a picture of. You must use the viewfinder to take images with this camera and only use the LCD to review the images.

As far as to reset the camera back to factory defaults, you need to turn the camera dial to P go to the Menu and on the camera 1 tab right arrow over and then arrow down to custom reset setting and then hit the right arrow highlight reset and press ok it will show reset yes or no highlight yes and press ok this will reset the camera back to its factory settings

Digital Zoom and Auto Focus "On" settings are not kept/retained

If you shoot in the P mode setting and then go to the Menu and set the option for All Reset to OFF. The camera will retain those settings when powered off. If you are shooting in the AUTO mode the camera will always default back to the factory setting of OFF when the camera is powered off. The All Reset function is not able to be set in the AUTO mode because the camera is already using factory default settings.

How do I increase the dpi setting on my Olympus D-425?

Unfortunately most of the Olympus cameras shoot at 72 dpi by default - a suggestion is to shoot at the highest quality setting and then use Adobe Photoshop to modify to 200 dpi if that's what you need.
