Silver servis washing machine suddenly has no power/ wont turn on

Have had electrician out to my electrics on house. This is all ok- so not the problem. Have had it just over 12 months now and an orange light usually comes on when plugged in. This no longer happens and when i turn the dial to start a wash it does nothing either.
I attempted to contact a washer man who said it could be a problem with the main board and if it needs replacing it is expensive ?
He wanted to charge me £20 just to come and look before any work needed doing.
Please help as it is impossible for me to buy a new one at this time...
Have u any ideas what could be the matter.
Also i heard servisjust went bust so i guess that wont help.
