Lamps burned every 6-9 months.

Service center said I may not replace the lamp correctly? I bought 3 lamps since bought TV in Nov. 2005. Your help is greatly appreciated. C. Wan

You most likely didn't put them in wrong, there is a defect in the manufacturing which causes the lamps to burn prematurely and this is a common problem. I am on my 3rd lamp as well. There is a class action lawsuit against Toshiba where you may get reimbursed for the lamps, because apparently they knew about the defect. There's a link on the toshiba website or you can do a search for dlp lamp settlement. Good luck.

This is indeed a very common problem with the Toshiba products. The reason I asked about the time is that the television bulbs are estimated to last on average 4,000 viewed hours, which you are only coming up short of 50%.

Toshiba is offering an extended warranty free on the product that does cover the bulb replacement.
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpassets-images/notices/dlplamp.asp
is the link for this extended warranty.

After researching your particular make and model, I have found that the average span for a bulb is indeed 9-12 months. Beyond this extended warrant, Toshiba is offering no further assistance, and will only replace it once. They have also been having issues with the color wheel going out at an average cost of $750.00 which under warranty they will replace one time only.

There is nothing you can do beyond replacing the lamps, however my suggestion would be to replace the television itself, and stay away from Toshiba.

Hi,
Usually if all 3 indicator lights come on this could be the color wheel is not functioning or the DINe chip needs to be re-soldered. Be sure the lamp door is closed all the way, but the color wheel needs to be looked at first.

My tv turns on, but there is no picture. The two green lights and one red light are flashing on the button in front. What do I do?

That means that the lamp may be defective and the TV needs service. You can replace the lamp yourself. The code is on the right side of the TV and on the lamp case. Get a replacement using this code from the store where you bought the TV or a Samsung Service Center.

Once you have the correct lamp (the wrong one may damage your TV), make sure your TV has been off for at least 30 minutes (cool down). The cool down will not happen properly if the TV is plugged into anything other than a wall outlet.

Open the lamp case and take out the old lamp and replace with the new one. Do not touch the glass with your hands and do not insert any objects into the case. Do not leave the old lamp near flammable objects or where children can access it.

I hope this helps.

If I remember correctly, 6 flashes is a lamp issue.
A blown lamp is usually caused by dirt in the vents (and a blown thermal fuse). If the tech replaced the fuse but did not vacuum out the TV, find a new shop.
The lamp could be overheated and need replacing. The lamp driver could also be failed.
Fans in the set could be not turning and overheating the set.
Check with Sony for a reputable center. Best to transport the TV in to save service call charges. Expect to pay $275 for a lamp + labour.

KDF46E2000 - Change Lamp Warning - Reset

Bulb is most likely OK. Original bulb in Sony TV is Philips, label on bulb usually says Philips. Sony don't make bulbs. Sony Cost is usually 1.5 times other sources. Many shopping cart operations sell condemned, reject or poor quality electronic service items because cost of return and fooling with them is excessive. This is obvious and widespread with convergence ICs and other parts.

Lamp timer needs reset. This is usually an automatic function. TV detects Increased lamp current from previous failed bulb or weak bulb condition and resets automatically. TV must be unplugged for lamp replacement for this to work. Occasionally it must be reset manually, as below:

1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a
second of each other:
DISPLAY Channel 5 Volume + POWER .1. Access Service Adjustment Mode and select the Service Menu that
contains the Category with the Adjustment Item you want to change.
2. To change the Category, press 2 or 5 on the Remote Commander.
Note: Pressing 2 or 5 only changes the categories within the
Service Menu displayed. To change a Category on one of the other
Service Menus, press the JUMP button until the correct Service
Menu is displayed.
3. To change the Adjustment Item, press 1 or 4 on the Remote
Commander.
4. To change the Data Value, press 3 or 6 on the Remote
Commander.
Note: To go back to the last saved Data Value, press 0 then ENT
on the Remote Commander to read the memory.
5. To save the changes, press MUTING then ENT to write into
memory.
6. To exit service mode, turn the power off by pressing POWER .
Wait 2 minutes before restarting the set to allow the fans to
completely shut down or the Service Menu will appear on the screen.

Panasonic PT50LC14 Power issue

We have a PT-50LC14. We replaced the lamp 6 months ago with a TY-LA1000 bulb we bought from a company online (not directly from Panasonic) and it worked for 6 months. Then the TV started turning off on it's own...sometimes it would not come back on for an hour or so. We called the lamp company and we luckily had 1 day left on our 6 month warranty!! They sent us a replacement bulb and the TV would never power on. It would try to power up, but the bulb would never ignite. The power light would flash and then the lamp light would flash every 5 seconds. I had a friend that has the same type of TV and she ordered her bulb directly from Panasonic. I borrowed her lamp and it powered right up. We then called the online company and they sent us yet another replacement bulb, and I tried it today and it works. It seems like these TVs are very particular about the type of bulb used. Next time, we will be ordering ours directly from Panasonic and just paying the extra $100. We have been without our big screen for 2 very long months! I had called a local tv repair shop, called Panasonic directly, and read through countless internet forums, and I thought we were going to have to replace the ballast or get a ballast repair kit and start messing with the circuit board.

New Lamp will not come on

I suspect thermo fuse near lamp or ballast or light engine. In that order , first double check lamp is in tight and covers are on correct there are switches on cover for lamp.

1 thermo 150.00
2 ballast 250;00
3 light engine 600.00

Get a tv service center to come over and check. it would be worth the service call ask him what he charges for road call , at least know you have price and part information.

thanks doctor video
